This provision is good
The childminder has made several improvements since her last inspection. She has introduced new systems for completing assessments and planning. She uses these effectively to monitor children's progress and to identify any gaps in their learning. The childminder has established warm and caring relationships with the children in her care. She knows them well and responds sensitively to their individual needs. This supports children to settle quickly and feel secure. The childminder has a good understanding of how to support children's learning and development across the different areas. She plans a wide range of interesting activities and experiences based on children's interests and next steps in learning. The childminder provides good opportunities for younger children to engage in sensory activities and develop their curiosity. The childminder uses different strategies to support children's developing language and

communication skills. For example, she encourages younger children to repeat simple words and models language. The childminder has established positive links with other local settings and discusses how she can support children's ongoing learning and development.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not always organise resources in a way that fully promotes children's ability to make choices in their learning. The childminder does not yet make the most of opportunities for continuous professional development to extend her knowledge and teaching skills even further.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

enhance the organisation of resources and further support children to make choices about the equipment and materials they wish to use during play and activities seek a wider range of professional development opportunities that helps enhance knowledge and teaching skills further.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector completed an evaluation of an activity with the childminder. The inspector spoke to the childminder at appropriate times during the inspection. She looked at relevant documentation, such as the childminder's self-evaluation form and evidence of the suitability of adults living in the household. The inspector spoke to one of the parents and took account of their views.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder has a good understanding of how to promote children's safety and protect them from harm. She evaluates the quality of her provision and identifies future developments, such as improvements to the outdoor area. The childminder has successfully developed her practice since the last inspection. She regularly shares information about children's learning and development with parents and other settings that children attend. The childminder, generally, keeps herself well informed about changes to guidance and legislation. She updates her policies to reflect any changes and shares these with parents.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder is well qualified and has a good understanding of how to support children's next steps in development. She completes observations and assessments of children's learning and shares learning records with parents. The childminder discusses ideas to help support children's learning at home. She supports younger children to develop their physical skills and mobility. She plans a range of activities and introduces new resources. Children, overall, enjoy exploring sensory baskets and have opportunities to take part in creative and messy activities. During activities the childminder interacts well with children. She provides commentary, asks questions and introduces simple songs and rhymes. Older children have opportunities to learn about growth and life cycles. They plant vegetables and discuss how to care for living things.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder is caring and responds sensitively to children's individual needs and care routines. She collects high-quality information from parents when children first start and uses this well to inform her initial assessments and planning. The childminder engages well with children and plays alongside them, helping to support their social skills and communication. She encourages children to be independent and uses positive praise effectively. Children display confidence and make requests about activities they would like. They generally share ideas about equipment they would like to see outdoors. The childminder supports children to follow a healthy lifestyle and encourages them to try different fruits and vegetables. She takes children to visit places of interest, such as going to the local farm to pick fresh strawberries.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children enjoy their time with the childminder and make good progress in their learning. Younger children are supported well to develop their physical and communication skills. They display a positive attitude to new activities and a desire to explore. Older children are supported to develop some of the necessary skills required for their future learning, such as reading. This helps to prepare them well for their future move to school.
