This provision is good
The childminder has good partnerships with parents and other professionals. She regularly exchanges information about children's care and development. They work together to ensure that children's learning is further extended at home and in other settings. The childminder frequently evaluates her provision and gathers the opinions of the parents and children to ensure that she delivers a good quality service to all. She accurately identifies things that she does well and identifies the areas for development. The childminder uses effective systems to evaluate children's activities and tracks their ongoing development. This enables her to swiftly identify gaps in their learning and continually enhances future opportunities. This helps all children to make good progress in their learning and development. It is not yet outstanding because:
Occasionally, the organisation of some resources makes it difficult for children to independently explore and choose from the full range that is available. The childminder does not always obtain as much detailed information as she can from parents about their children's abilities and achievements when they first start.

The quality of the provision is good. The childminder is well qualified, experienced and dedicated in caring and delivering good learning experiences for children. The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder has a good knowledge of the local safeguarding policy and procedures and continually attends community meetings to keep abreast of any changes. She continually identifies any potential risks in her home and different places she visits. This ensures that children are kept safe at all times. The childminder has attended a wide range of training and implements her new knowledge into her practice to help improve outcomes for children.
p.3

The childminder observes children in their play and plans activities relating to their interests and next stage of their learning. The quality of teaching is good and she interacts well with children. The childminder adapts group activities effectively to suit all ages and abilities. For example, children enjoy focused activities to develop their recognition of colour. Older children are given instructions to sort different coloured objects into the same coloured pots. Younger children are given the names of colours and encouraged to repeat the words. The childminder uses picture books as visual prompts to encourage younger children to link names with words. Children's thinking skills are effectively supported, as they are given time to think and respond. The childminder asks challenging questions that encourage children to solve problems for themselves, such as why a giraffe will not fit through a door. This helps children to develop their language, communication
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder gathers sufficient information from parents about children's routines and current interests. This information helps the childminder to settle children and to support their emotional well-being. Children's understanding of the world is well promoted through regular outings into the local community. They attend a variety of toddler groups and activity centres. This helps support children's social skills and extends their physical development. The childminder encourages children to follow clear hygiene practices that help keep them in good health. She provides children with a selection of nutritious meals and snacks. This contributes to children's understanding of the importance of leading healthy lifestyles.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children make good progress from their starting points. They are confident, attentive and motivated in their play. Children's behaviour is good. They develop good friendships, display good manners, share resources and genuinely enjoy each other's company. Children develop the skills they need for the next stage in their learning and for nursery or school.
