The childminder provides activities that children are interested in and enjoy doing. She organises her play environments and resources well so children can have independent choice in their play. The childminder strives to deliver an enjoyable learning experience for all children after their day at school. Communication between the childminder and parents is consistent, ensuring that they work well together to meet children's needs. They talk together every day at drop off and collection times. Since her last inspection the childminder has changed her childminding services and now only cares for school-aged children. However, she has met the actions and recommendation set at her last inspection. For example, she now uses the information

Inspection activities
The inspector observed activities indoors and assessed the impact these have on the quality of provision for children. The inspector spoke with the childminder and children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector looked at relevant documentation, such as the childminder's policies and procedures and checked the suitability of adults living in the home. The inspector took account of the written views expressed by parents.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder is knowledgeable about child protection issues and understands how to report any concerns. Policies and procedures are regularly reviewed and updated with any new childcare legislation. The suitability of adults in the home has been verified. The childminder regularly reads childcare magazines she receives to keep her childcare knowledge up to date and to help improve the experiences for children. Relationships with parents are positive and they speak highly of the childminder and the care she provides. They feel that the childminder has a really lovely manner and is calm, kind and patient.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder only cares for school-age children. She is experienced in childcare and offers close support to children as they play. Children are independent learners and enjoy play through exploration. The childminder talks to children and listens to what they have to say. She answers their questions and provides good opportunities for children to think of and execute their own ideas. For example, they plan and select the resources they are going to use to build a house. Children are encouraged to use their imagination and use toys in a variety of ways to represent different objects. They enjoy dressing up, becoming a builder and a doctor as they play. The childminder encourages children to hear initial letter sounds and blend them together to make words. They recognise the letters of their name and those of some other words when playing with alphabet blocks.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder's home is well organised to enable children to move freely and safely in the areas available to them. Children approach the childminder with ease and welcome her support and advice as they play. Children arrive happy after their day at school and quickly settle. They understand and follow the routines of the setting. For example, taking off their shoes when they come in. Children welcome positive praise from the childminder for their efforts. Children are independent and take care of their own self-care needs, such as toileting. Children spend time in the fresh air every day. They enjoy spending time in the childminder's garden and walk to and from school every day. The childminder checks her home every day to ensure all areas of the home and garden are safe and secure. The childminder helps children to learn about road safety rules as they walk to and from school. They understand how to evacuate the premises in an emergency.
