p.2

Effectiveness of the leadership and management is outstanding

The childminder understands her role exceptionally well, reflecting the significant improvements made in her provision. She is passionate about helping children to learn to the highest levels. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has very strong knowledge of signs and symptoms which may demonstrate a concern about a child's welfare. She also understands the procedures to follow in the event of a concern. The childminder attends regular training courses and works closely with local authority advisers to help identify ways to improve still further. She evaluates her provision constantly and rigorously to maintain her improvement, supported by the views of parents and children.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding

The childminder is highly skilled at engaging in conversation and discussion with the children in her care. For example, she speaks extremely clearly and demonstrates new words and phrases for children to acquire. The childminder works outstandingly well with parents and other professionals to provide a consistent approach to the children's learning. For example, she shares reports and assessments with other settings. The childminder ensures that children are stimulated in all areas of learning. For example, they enjoy looking at maps to see where their parents have travelled to. They also research festivals online to see picture of the celebrations, which helps their understanding of the world around them. However, the childminder recognises that she could improve resources that help children learn more about different materials to extend their understanding even further.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding

Children behave extremely well and have superb relationships between themselves and the childminder. The childminder encourages them to share and take turns and children remind each other of the rules of the house. Children are supported to be respectful of the differences between them. She encourages children to remember past events in their lives which are significant to them and responds very well when they ask her questions. The childminder knows children's care needs and their abilities individually and is excellent at supporting their physical and emotional well-being. The childminder offers children a variety of opportunities to gain a breadth of experiences and encourages children to be independent and express themselves very well.

p.3

Outcomes for children are outstanding

Children are highly motivated and confident learners. All children make excellent progress from their starting points and develop their early writing, reading, speaking and number skills brilliantly for the next stages in their learning, including their eventual move on to school.
