This provision is good
The quality of teaching overall is good. The childminder has a good knowledge of child development and how children learn and uses this well to teach children of different ages and abilities. This helps all children to make good progress in their learning and development. The childminder offers settling-in sessions for parents and their children. During these visits she gathers good information from parents about children's abilities and their routines at home. The visits also provide time for children to develop a bond with the childminder before they start. Children are secure and happy. The childminder forms warm relationships with them, effectively supporting their emotional well-being. Partnerships with parents work well. Parents are provided with information about how the provision operates. They are well informed about their child's daily care routines, activities and how well they are progressing in their learning.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder has not informed Ofsted of a change to her contact details for effective communication. At times, the childminder does not effectively promote children's thinking and reasoning skills. Although the childminder evaluates her provision and seeks parents input she does not regularly seek children's views, so that they can give their ideas for future developments.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To meet the requirements of the Childcare Register the provider must:

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and outdoors, and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector completed a joint observation with the childminder. The inspector looked at relevant documentation, such as the childminder's self- evaluation and evidence of suitability. The inspector took account of the written views of parents left for the inspection.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder implements effective policies and procedures to protect children from harm. She knows how to identify and report any signs that may indicate a child is at risk. However, the childminder has not kept Ofsted informed about a change of contact details. This has no impact on the care of children but aids communication with Ofsted. The childminder carries out risk assessments for her home and any outings that she takes children on. This helps her to identify if there are any possible hazards for children. The childminder ensures that her home is secure. She ensures that children are supervised at all times, and are never out of her sight either when in the home or on outings. The childminder attends regular training and local authority meetings. This helps to increase her understanding of how to implement effective strategies for planning and keeps her updated about any new legislation. The

childminder works well with other early years provisions that children attend to enhance continuity of care and learning.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder uses observations well and makes accurate assessments of children's progress. She recognises where children are making slower progress and alters her planning to help close these gaps. The childminder guides and encourages children during activities. Children are fascinated by the animals that live in the garden. They learn about how to care for them and what kind of foods to feed them. The childminder promotes their communication and language skills as they talk about what they are doing. During activities, such as cutting and rolling out dough, the childminder introduces counting. This helps children to learn in a fun way and they become deeply engaged in activities. Young children take great pleasure in rolling the dough while older children cut out different shapes.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children are excited and motivated to explore the environment freely and show a strong sense of belonging. They help to water the plants and help to pick some fruits that they have grown. The childminder teaches them about a healthy lifestyle. They taste the fruits at lunchtime to see whether they like them and talk about foods that are good for them. Children have plenty of space to move around and practise their physical skills. They become competent at climbing the steps for the slide and come down the other side. Ball skills are practised and the childminder promotes sharing as they pass it to each other. The childminder is a good role model. She offers children lots of praise and encouragement and children learn how to behave well and use good manners.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Overall, children make good progress in their learning and development given their starting points. They grow in independence and make choices about their play. Children are keen to learn and they become confident communicators and clearly express their needs. They are well prepared for the next stages of their learning and their eventual move to school.
