They develop positive attitudes to others, share, take turns and play harmoniously with each other and the childminder.  The childminder demonstrates a strong commitment to promoting high-quality provision. She has completed a formal childcare qualification since her last inspection, which has had a good impact on the learning experiences she offers children. The childminder continues to develop her knowledge through attending other training.

Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good

Safeguarding is effective. The childminder fully understands and effectively implements legal requirements. She is very aware about her responsibilities to protect children and knows what procedures to follow in various safeguarding situations. The childminder regularly observes children, asks parents to share what they know about their children's current likes and interests, and plans purposeful learning experiences to help them develop further. Parents receive good information about children's care and learning to keep them informed of children's progress. The childminder regularly evaluates services provided and seeks others' views to help her improve the provision.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good

The childminder provides activities and resources that maintain children's interest and keep them motivated. She successfully plans a range of learning experiences that promote children's learning in all areas. During activities, children engage well and the childminder skilfully supports their investigations and interests. For example, when they look at the little houses made out of different materials, they touch and feel the textures, compare their weights and learn words such as 'heavy' and 'light'. The childminder promotes children's communication and language skills very well. She often comments on the things that she sees children do and asks questions to help children think for themselves. She talks to the children about past activities and invites them to join in with songs and reading books.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding

The childminder has extremely effective settling-in procedures and uses information gathered from parents very effectively to help children settle. Children are happy and extremely confident within the environment. The childminder has a very kind and caring nature and is an excellent role model. Children receive plenty of praise, which boosts up their confidence and self-esteem. They enjoy a very well-resourced environment. Children, from a young age, develop their independence through the very wide range of activities and excellent opportunities provided. For example, children peel their satsumas at snack time and follow hygiene routines independently.

p.3

Outcomes for children are good

All children, including those, who learning English as an additional language, make good progress from their starting points. They gain skills and are very well prepared socially, physically and emotionally for the next stages in their learning. Children respond positively to the childminder's good interactions. They start recognising letters and begin to form letters. They count with confidence. All children play harmoniously and concentrate during activities. They are well prepared for school.
