This provision is good
The childminder has successfully addressed the recommendations and actions raised at the previous inspection. This demonstrates her capacity to improve and to further develop the provision. The childminder is an experienced practitioner and the quality of her teaching is good. She uses her knowledge of child development well to plan activities that provide challenge for children and promote their next steps in learning. The childminder maintains a good overview of the educational activities and experiences she offers to children. This ensures these reflect their interests and stage of development. The childminder recognises the importance of maintaining continuity in children's emotional and physical well-being. She gathers high-quality information, such as children's medical needs and any allergies they may have, from parents on entry. The childminder works well in partnership with local schools and external agencies in

order to complement children's learning and meet their individual needs.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The monitoring of children's progress is not yet rigorous enough to provide the childminder with precise information to ensure any possible gaps in learning are identified even more swiftly. The childminder has not yet fully explored further ways to enhance her programme of continuous professional development, to extend her teaching skills and knowledge to an even higher level.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector viewed all parts of the childminder's home used for childminding. The inspector observed play and learning activities and spoke to the childminder, assistant and children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector carried out a joint observation with the childminder. The inspector viewed regulatory documentation including evidence of suitability checks, children's details, learning journals and a sample of policies and procedures.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder has good knowledge of signs and symptoms that may indicate possible abuse of children. She knows who to contact should she have any concerns about a child's welfare. In addition, the childminder knows what action to take in the event of an allegation being made against herself or her assistant. The childminder monitors the work of her assistant well. She ensures he attends mandatory training, such as paediatric first aid, and provides ongoing feedback regarding his teaching skills. This helps the assistant to improve the effectiveness of his role. The childminder reflects on the service she provides for children. She identifies areas for further development, taking account of the views of parents and children. This helps to improve children's achievements over time. The childminder meets regularly with other childminders in the local area. This helps her to reflect upon her service and share
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder and her assistant support children well to develop their communication and language skills. They sit alongside them as they play, using effective strategies that help to enhance their understanding and extend their vocabulary. Children respond well when they are asked to find objects and try to repeat words that are modelled for them. The childminder praises children's early attempts to speak and encourages them to repeat even more words. Parents are encouraged to share in their children's learning and they are helped to further their development at home. They make written comments such as, 'The childminder regularly provides feedback of my child's progress'.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children behave well within the childminder's home. Rules and boundaries are displayed on the wall to remind older children of behavioural expectations. Gentle reminders and age-appropriate discussions are provided for younger children. The childminder and her assistant provide high levels of supervision, which helps to keep children safe at all times. Good levels of care are provided. This helps children to develop strong relationships with both adults and they are motivated to learn. The childminder provides an interesting, stimulating environment within her home. Toys and equipment are well organised, stored effectively and enable children to make independent choices and show confidence in directing their own play.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress in their learning from their starting points. They are developing the key skills required for starting school. For example, children develop an interest in early literacy skills. They hold paintbrushes in their hands and enjoy dipping them in and out of paint pots before making marks on paper and other objects.
