This provision is good

 Children behave well. Staff skilfully support and encourage children to manage their behaviour positively. Children develop good communication skills, are kind and willingly help each other.  The management team supports staff well through regular meetings and training. Training has helped staff focus effectively on techniques to extend children's communication and confidence.  The management team has worked hard to address the weaknesses raised at the last inspection. For example, the manager monitors children's progress carefully to ensure planning takes account of children's interests and what they need to learn next.  Staff provide a broad range of interesting activities to engage and maintain children's interest well. Children are eager, enthusiastic and make good progress in their learning.  The management team ensures staff work more effectively with parents to meet children's individual care and learning needs well. They provide parents with regular

feedback about their children's activities and progress.

p.1

It is not yet outstanding because:

 Sometimes, staff miss opportunities to encourage children more to explore and investigate how things work for themselves.  Staff do not always extend children's independence skills further during mealtimes, so children can do more things for themselves.

p.1

What the setting needs to do to improve further

To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

p.2

What the setting needs to do to improve further

 strengthen children's curiosity of how things work and help them develop their own ideas when exploring  further support children's independence skills at mealtimes.

p.2

Inspection activities

 The inspector observed activities, inside and outside.  The inspector undertook a joint observation with the manager.  The inspector took into account parents' views.  The inspector held discussions with the management, staff and children.  The inspector viewed a range of documents, including safeguarding policies, staff and children's records, planning, and self-evaluation and accident records.

p.2

Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good

The management team uses self-evaluation effectively to identify and make ongoing improvements. This has helped them to review the play areas inside and further develop the outside area, helping children to make choices about where they play. Safeguarding is effective. The management team and staff regularly attend training to ensure they have up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding issues. They have a good understanding of child protection and the procedures to follow if they have concerns about the children. The manager ensures staff complete regular risk assessments of the environment and effectively maintain children's safety. Regular discussions with parents provide good opportunities to include them in their children's next steps in learning and share their achievements from home.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good

Staff effectively use training to improve their teaching. For example, they ask questions that encourage children to think things through and extend their communication skills. Staff provide a good range of activities and support. For example, children eagerly take part in water activities, learning about capacity and items that float and sink. Children develop good coordination as they successfully manage to spray directly into the water tray using a hose. Staff provide good support to children during activities, for example, when looking for and recording the types of bugs hidden in the garden. Children learn to take care of plants they have grown from seeds. They share how tomatoes need to go from green to red before they can eat them. Children develop a good awareness of similarities and differences, and learn about different celebrations throughout the year.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good

Staff provide a welcoming and well-resourced setting, making good use of the indoor and outdoor spaces to provide an inviting environment for children. Children have a good relationship with staff, and feel secure and settle well. Staff are good role models and support children well to take turns. Children cooperate well in play. For example, they take turns to fill up syringes to squirt water. Staff effectively support children to explain to others when they do not like their actions. Children enjoy physical exercise and develop good control and coordination of their bodies. They actively take part in music and movement sessions and play outdoors.

p.3

Outcomes for children are good

Children learn good skills to support their next stage of their learning, including starting school. For example, they confidently use scissors, listen and follow simple instructions, and develop good early literacy skills, such as recognising and writing their name. Children are confident learners and play well together.
