This provision is good
The childminder supports children's understanding of the world successfully and takes them on regular outings in the community. For example, they watch artists create an animal mural in the local park and visit local amenities. Children's communication and language development is good. The childminder uses various methods, such as reading simple books, learning rhymes and talking with children about what they are doing, to help them develop their skills. The childminder is committed to training to increase his knowledge. He uses the information gained in his daily practice to improve outcomes for children. They make good progress in all areas of their learning. The childminder places a high emphasis on keeping children safe. For example, he ensures his home is safe and secure, and children learn about road and river safety when on the outings. The childminder has made good progress since the last inspection. He has improved

Inspection activities
The inspector completed a joint observation with the childminder and discussed the findings. The inspector completed observations of the childminder, his co-childminder and the children. The inspector reviewed a sample of documentation, including self-evaluation documents and children's learning records. The inspector spoke to the childminder and the children at appropriate times. The inspector used parents' written feedback to gain their views about the provision.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has completed training and has a good understanding of the procedures to follow in the event of a concern about a child's welfare. He monitors and evaluates his provision with his co-childminder. For example, they complete a reflective diary together to help them jointly review their practice and make improvements. The childminder regularly shares information with parents so that he is fully aware of children's individual needs. He uses good methods to monitor children's progress across all areas of learning. He has attended various courses and workshops, and gained a good understanding of supporting children's communication and language development.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder uses effective teaching methods to help children progress. They listen with interest as he reads stories, encouraging them to talk about the different animals they can see in the pictures. The childminder works closely with his co-childminder to complete observations and assessments to enable them to identify the next stages in children's learning effectively. Parents are encouraged to share information about their children's progress at home. This helps the childminder to plan their learning more effectively and provide activities that encourage their language skills. For example, the childminder captures children's interest as he plays a game with them. They take objects out of a bag and enthusiastically sing a song or talk about what they have found.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder builds good relationships with children. He shows a genuine interest in what the children are saying and doing, and clearly knows them well. Children feel safe and secure, showing high levels of confidence. They move around the childminder's home choosing what they would like to play with. There are good methods to make sure that children are safe, such as regular checks while they are sleeping. Children behave well, learning behaviour expectations from an early age. The childminder is a positive role model encouraging children to develop good manners and be kind to others.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children participate in a good range of activities linked to their individual needs and interests. They are motivated and show good levels of concentration. For example, children put different shapes into containers. They enjoy using their imagination and make their dolls some food. They show a keen interest in books and spend considerable time looking at the pictures and listening carefully to stories. Children gain the skills they need for the next stage in their learning or the move to school.
