This provision is good
The childminder reflects on her practice regularly, with the help of parents and children, and seeks areas for improvement. She has made positive changes since the last inspection and provides a safe and secure environment in which children can learn and develop well. The childminder uses observations and assessments effectively. She identifies children's levels of achievement and interests, and plans purposeful activities for their further development. Children make good progress in their learning. The childminder acts in a calm manner and models positive behaviour to children. She effectively teaches them to share with one another. Children behave well. Children enjoy the time spent in the childminder's care and use a range of toys and resources with confidence.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder has not yet fully developed working partnerships with other professionals. She does not encourage other practitioners to share what they know about children's development, to help promote continuity for children. The childminder does not offer children best possible opportunities to help them practise their early writing skills during their everyday activities and routines.

Inspection activities
The inspector toured the areas of the premises that children use. The inspector observed interactions between the childminder and children during activities. The inspector spoke to the childminder about her knowledge of the statutory requirements. The inspector read references and comments from parents, and took account of their views. The inspector looked at relevant documentation, including the childminder's self- evaluation information, policies and children's assessments.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder regularly risk assesses her home environment to help ensure children's safety. She is fully aware of procedures to follow in case she has a concern about a child's welfare. The childminder works in close partnership with parents. They regularly discuss children's care needs, learning and progress to help provide consistently good outcomes for children. The childminder uses different ways to keep up to date with current legislation and gather ideas to further develop her good teaching practice.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder carries out precise assessments of children's progress, which show that children constantly acquire new skills. She engages with children in play and questions their understanding. For example, she asks children why some objects sink and others float on the water, as they play in the garden. The childminder teaches young children the names of the colours and objects they play with. She interacts well with them as they enjoy singing familiar songs and rhymes. Children are motivated in their play and use their imaginations well. For instance, when they roll out dough, they pretend to make pancakes and food, which they place in the play oven to cook. They enjoy trips to the library where the childminder helps them to develop their interest in different books.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children settle in quickly when they first start and feel emotionally secure in childminder's care. She promotes children's independence well and encourages them to manage their hygiene needs and simple tasks for themselves. The childminder helps children to understand different religions and festivals in the local community and wider world through their everyday activities. For instance, when she arranged a playdough activity, children joined in and pretended to make food for upcoming Eid celebrations.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are active and enjoy learning outdoors in the fresh air. They climb and slide on apparatus and explore nature in the local parks. Children learn to count in order during play and understand simple reasoning. They develop their growing understanding of why healthy food is good for their bodies. Children get to know the school environment as they go to collect their older friends from school. They are confident learners and enjoy a good range of opportunities to help them prepare for their next steps in learning.
