This provision is good
The childminder has made clear improvements since the last inspection. This includes reorganising her play areas and activities to provide children with good opportunities to explore a wide range of interesting activities and resources safely. Children form strong bonds with the childminder, and are happy and settled in her care. They are eager to learn, interact well with one another and confidently express their wishes. The childminder works closely with parents to meet children's individual needs and keep them well informed about their children's experiences. She encourages parents to be involved in children's learning and share their views about the service she provides. Children make good progress and gain the key skills they need to help them achieve well in readiness for future learning and school. They enjoy exciting activities that reflect their interests and teach them about the world around them. Children benefit

from the childminder's enthusiastic and effective support.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder monitors children's learning well overall. However, she does not always do this consistently to support them to make as much progress as possible and close any gaps in their learning quicker. The childminder does not always fully consider how she can develop her knowledge and understanding further, particularly regarding changes to government guidance.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the childminder and children engaged in activities. The inspector spoke to the childminder and children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector completed a joint observation with the childminder. The inspector sampled a range of regulatory documentation, children's records, and policies and procedures.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder provides a well-organised, safe and secure environment for children. She regularly reviews her practice and makes changes to improve outcomes for children. This includes vigilant supervision and clear routines to keep children safe on outings and when collecting them from school. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a secure understanding of child protection issues and the procedures to follow should she have any concerns about a child's welfare. The childminder has close links with other settings children attend. This helps her to provide children with continuity and extend their learning further, such as to learn more about the animals they saw on an outing. Overall, the childminder takes effective steps to improve her practice. For example, she has completed a qualification since the last inspection and gained a greater understanding of children's language development, enabling her to support them well.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder provides a broad variety of experiences that reflect children's interests. For example, following children's wish to paint an elephant, the childminder extended this further. She helped them to make an elephant mask and learn some key facts about elephants. Children enjoy frequent outings and a variety of practical projects that teach them about the world. For example, they learn about lifecycles as they grow potatoes and watch caterpillars turn into butterflies. The childminder teaches children a variety of skills as they learn about the jobs people do. For instance, children pretend to be shopkeepers, learn about healthy foods when choosing vegetables to buy and practise counting when they pay for them.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder encourages children's emotional and physical well-being successfully. Children learn how to play safely and considerately with one another. They receive good guidance from the childminder who helps them to take turns, share and behave well. Children gain a positive understanding of a healthy lifestyle and the importance of healthy eating, hygiene and exercise. They agree simple rules with the childminder to stay safe, such as sitting at the table when eating and not playing on the stairs.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are confident, independent and eager learners. Young children develop their physical skills and concentrate well when exploring activities, such as crafts, sand and books. Older children gain good language and mathematical skills, and know that print has meaning. They identify shapes, count confidently and know to use the number poster, for example, to check they have identified numbers correctly. Children develop good hand-to- eye coordination, preparing them well for early writing.
