The childminder now has good methods to track and assess children's learning. These help her to successfully highlight their next steps in learning and to incorporate these into effective planning, to help children continually make good progress. Self-evaluation processes clearly identify strengths and areas to improve. The childminder has a positive attitude to improving her provision further and has successfully addressed her last inspection recommendations to improve outcomes for children.

For example, children enjoy pretend play where they are pirates with swords. The childminder communicates well with children and develops their language skills effectivity. For example, when playing together, the childminder skilfully models language to help children with pronunciation, to build their speech. The childminder promotes children's mathematical understanding well in activities that they enjoy. Children develop an effective understanding of personal safety, such as when the childminder teaches them safety rules about the dangers of cookers through playing with the toy oven.

p.3

Outcomes for children are good

All children are well prepared for their next stage in learning. They are self-reliant and enjoy deciding what to do. Children show strong independence skills and follow the childminder's expectations. For example, they readily help to tidy away. They learn to persevere and, for example, try to put on their socks and shoes ready to go out. Children gain early literacy skills; for example, they enjoy looking at books and learn rhyming words, which helps prepare them for the move to school.
