This provision is outstanding

 Overall, the childminder has excellent partnerships with parents. She makes sure that there is very strong two-way communication, which helps her to cater extremely well for children's individual care needs.  Children play in highly stimulating and extensively-resourced play areas. The childminder has an excellent knowledge of each child's stage of development and maintains very high expectations when planning activities and resources. Children make outstanding progress in their learning and thrive in her care.  The quality of care that children receive is superb. The childminder implements well- established routines and attentively meets their personal needs. Children are exceedingly happy, content and cooperative.  The childminder makes excellent use of every opportunity to encourage children to be independent. Children show strong determination in undertaking suitable responsibilities. For example, they persist until they successfully slice bread and spread

butter.  The childminder rigorously evaluates her practice and provision, and uses information gained, along with the children's identified needs and interests, to achieve targeted improvements. For example, she recognises that she can involve parents even further when children first start.

p.1

What the setting needs to do to improve further

To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

 implement identified actions to obtain even more detail from parents about children's abilities.

p.2

Inspection activities

 The inspector viewed the available childminding resources and premises, and observed adult-led and children's chosen activities.  The inspector took account of the views of children and parents through discussion on the day of inspection, and through written feedback.  The inspector held discussions with the childminder at appropriate times during the inspection.  The inspector sampled documentation, including children's learning records, policies, procedures, and the suitability checks for household members.

p.2

Effectiveness of the leadership and management is outstanding

The childminder attaches great importance to strengthening her professional development, such as through completing additional training, and demonstrates its effective impact on children's outcomes. For example, she has deepened her understanding of how to promote children's personal and emotional development, and routinely implements these newly identified strategies. The childminder carefully monitors children's achievements and accurately tracks the progress they make over time. A comprehensive knowledge of child protection procedures, including how to report these, helps her to keep children safe from harm. Safeguarding is effective.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding

The childminder plans highly stimulating experiences that complement children's interests and needs, and that help them to develop a positive attitude to learning. For example, children eagerly explore paint using tools and their hands, mixing the colours and identifying the marks they make. The childminder interacts with them extremely skilfully to extend their communication and listening skills. For example, she makes very good use of questioning to elicit children's ideas, models speech clearly and shows great interest in what children have to say to encourage discussions. All children, including those who speak English as an additional language, make excellent progress in their language development and are extremely confident communicators.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding

The childminder is an excellent role model to children, which helps children to settle quickly and establish respectful relationships. Children have excellent social skills, such as warmly welcoming their friends and immediately including them in activities when they arrive. Children's behaviour is very good. For example, they use good manners at all times, such as when asking to 'get down from the table'. Children independently solve minor problems and are extremely confident. For instance, they take the lead during singing activities when the childminder briefly goes to complete a task, and their friends willingly continue to act out the song. Children's personal-safety awareness is excellent, which helps them to identify and reduce risks for themselves. For example, they learn to use suitable knives with care to prepare their own meals.

p.3

Outcomes for children are outstanding

Children are extremely well prepared for the next stage in their education. They are incredibly imaginative learners, who play together very well and take account of their friends' ideas. Children gain valuable literacy skills, such as learning to recognise and copy their written names, which older children manage with ease.
