This monitoring visit
This monitoring visit was carried out on 14 April 2016 to measure progress in relation to a compliance notice served on 24 December 2015. A previous monitoring visit on 9 February 2016 found that one step outlined in the compliance notice had not been met. This monitoring visit was made to assess whether the step identified in the compliance notice made in relation to Regulation 6 requiring the home to gather all relevant information on young people before prior to their admission was being met.
p.2
This monitoring visit
During this monitoring visit, inspectors met with the acting manager, deputy manager, a practice manager and an area manager and examined a number of documents such as key working sessions, risk assessments and referral information.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Inspectors found that the current young person’s views had been sought as part of the admission process so that she was suitably prepared for the change in dynamics in the home when another young person was admitted.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Additionally, background information about the young person due to be admitted had been examined and considered by the practice manager, area manager, acting manager and deputy manager. Correspondence between the home and the placing authority had made it clear that the new young person would not be admitted unless the correct information was in place.
p.2
This monitoring visit
The background information was considered and risk assessments were put in place to manage any potential risks that the young person may pose to herself, or behaviours she may display that could impact on the well-being of the other young person.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Risk assessments were thorough and addressed known and potential risks so that measures could be put in place to minimise them. There was an impact risk assessment dated 14 April which took into account the possible impact of the admission on the behaviour of both young people and identified risk taking behaviour. There was a provisional assessment plan in which all key areas were addressed. It focused on key areas of risk and some positive issues such as the new young person’s interests and hobbies which could be used to build relationships.
p.2
This monitoring visit
The quality of pre-admission information is now of a standard which fully meets the compliance notice relating to Regulation 6.
