Inspection activities

 The inspector and the childminder discussed the systems used to observe and record children's progress.  The inspector completed observations of the children engaged in activities with the childminder.  The inspector sampled some of the documents that the childminder uses to support her practice.  The inspector took into account written feedback from parents and older children.

p.2

Effectiveness of the leadership and management is outstanding

Since the previous inspection, the childminder has improved the quality of her provision to an excellent standard. The childminder reflects on her practice in depth and constantly makes exceptionally well-targeted improvements to help support the learning needs of children. She fully values the feedback that she gathers from children and parents and continually improves and adapts her provision to maintain excellent standards. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder takes the safety of the children extremely seriously and has excellent systems in place to identify and eliminate risks immediately. She teaches young children to manage their own risks. The childminder is extremely well organised and keeps up to date with new guidance and legislation.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding

The childminder monitors children's progress very successfully. She completes highly accurate assessments and uses these to inform her planning to help enable all children to make excellent progress. The childminder is a highly skilful communicator. She helps young children gain new vocabulary and fully supports children who are learning English as an additional language. For example, she counts in French and English while playing with children to extend their mathematical language. The childminder provides exceptionally interesting and challenging activities that support children's development in all areas. However, there are slightly less opportunities for children to explore role play activities that help to support learning about diversity.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding

The childminder supports children's physical well-being exceptionally well. For example, she talks to young children about the importance of washing their hands. Children benefit from healthy and nutritious meals, which strongly contribute towards their understanding of healthy lifestyles. Children respond to the childminder's interactions with great delight and complete interest. For example, during the singing session they jumped, danced and cheered as they joined in animatedly with the actions. The childminder supports young children's independence exceptionally well. Young children confidently find their shoes to put on to go outside. Children are exceptionally secure and this helps them to explore the highly engaging environment.

p.3

Outcomes for children are outstanding

Children are extremely confident and active learners. They remain fully engaged in all activities, which are carefully tailored to suit their individual needs. For example, young children play with playdough of different textures and resources to allow them to explore their senses. Young children learn to be extremely independent and this helps to prepare them very well for the next stage in their learning.
