p.2

Effectiveness of the leadership and management is outstanding

Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has an excellent knowledge of child protection issues. She ensures that she is aware of the latest guidance to enable her to respond promptly and effectively to any concerns she may have about a child. The childminder uses feedback from parents and children to help her evaluate her practice precisely to identify ways to enhance it even further. For example, she is eager to build on her already excellent knowledge and qualifications to provide the very highest quality of teaching. She continually develops her provision and has made significant improvements. For example, she skilfully adapts her planning to take account of children's views.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding

The childminder makes highly accurate observations and tailors activities precisely to what children need to learn next. She skilfully weaves children's interests and experiences into challenging and exciting activities. For example, children who have an avid interest in painting delighted in finding ways to stamp shapes and mix colours as they explored paints. They develop excellent problem-solving and investigative skills. For example, they tested out their own ideas as they experimented with mixing paints of different colours. The childminder's first-rate knowledge of the ways in which children learn helps her adapt her teaching and activities to match children's learning styles and individual needs. However, on rare occasions, she does not fully support less-confident children to make choices while they investigate. Children can move freely between indoors and outdoors, which provides excellent support for their natural desire to explore.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding

Children develop extremely close emotional bonds with the childminder who is an excellent role model. She ensures that children have an in-depth understanding of how to behave and teaches them to consider how their actions may affect others. They are particularly polite and considerate. For example, young children show superb levels of control as they wait until every child is seated before starting to eat their meal. Children work as a team, each taking turns during activities as they encourage each other to have a go. Children are independent and mature. They know when they need to wash their hands, and can assess risks and take steps to stay safe. For example, when it rains they discuss how they will need to walk on the decking in case it is slippery.

p.3

Outcomes for children are outstanding

Children make excellent progress across every area of learning. They are enthusiastic and keen to develop their skills and try new experiences. They happily lead their own learning and exploration, testing out their ideas and theories, and demonstrating high-level thinking skills as they play. Children are excited, prepared and ready for school.
