This provision is good
The childminder has a good understanding of how children learn. She provides a variety of stimulating and interesting activities that are matched to children's abilities and interests. Children make good progress from their initial starting points. The childminder is a good role model and teaches children to manage their own behaviour. Children are kind, tolerant and respectful. They learn to share their toys and to take turns as they play. The childminder establishes effective partnerships with parents. She keeps parents regularly informed about their children's progress and how this can be extended at home. Parental feedback about the childminder's service is very positive and they value the care and learning she provides. The childminder has raised the quality of her setting and children's outcomes since the last inspection. She has addressed all actions and recommendations raised, and identified clear targets for continuous improvement.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not always challenge children's ideas and allow them enough time to share their thoughts and respond to her enthusiastic questioning. The childminder does not make the best use of opportunities to extend her professional development and widen her skills and knowledge.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

enhance the everyday opportunities to challenge children's ideas and allow them enough time to share their thoughts and respond to questions focus more precisely on identifying professional development opportunities that help raise the quality of teaching even further.
p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector sampled a range of documents, including children's information and learning records, safeguarding procedures, qualifications and training certificates, self- evaluation, attendance registers and a selection of policies and procedures. The inspector spoke with the childminder and with children at appropriate times throughout the inspection. The inspector took into account the written views of parents and carers provided on the day of inspection.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder knows the procedures to follow should she have any concerns about children's welfare. Furthermore, she teaches children how to manage their own risks and completes robust safety checks of her environment. The experienced childminder maintains good outcomes for children. For example, she regularly monitors and tracks their progress. If gaps in learning are noted, she quickly takes action to help them catch up. The childminder meets with other childminders to share ideas to help improve her practice. She recognises the importance of partnership working to help provide a consistent approach to care and learning.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder knows the children well and regularly observes and assesses their development. She plans appropriate next steps in children's learning to help promote their good progress. Overall, the childminder supports children's communication and language skills effectively. For example, she introduces vocabulary and encourages children to practise new words, such as 'whistle' and 'llama', as they play. Children delight in looking at books. They respond with enjoyment when listening to stories read by the childminder. Children thoroughly enjoy showing the childminder their discoveries, such as using the musical instruments to make different sounds in a variety of ways. Children use their imagination as they role play familiar situations. For example, they bathe a doll, feed it, take off its clothes and pat its back, saying 'shush'.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children settle quickly and develop good emotional attachments to the childminder. They thrive in her care, enjoying her cuddles and praise. The childminder helps children to learn about the importance of good personal hygiene routines. Children know the routine of regular hand washing. Children are encouraged to take responsibility for their learning environment. They help with tasks, such as tidying up. Children have plenty of opportunities to be physically active in the childminder's well-resourced garden. They enjoy many activities and outings, which help increase their awareness of the wider community and different traditions and customs.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are developing key skills needed for their future learning, including school. They are motivated, independent and sociable learners, and spend long periods of time engaged in activities. Children are clearly inspired to write and are excited at the prospect. For example, they use chalks to make marks outdoors. Children count, sort and match items during play. They see words and numbers around the home, which help to support early number recognition.
