This provision is good
The childminder makes good use of practical experiences to teach children about their local environment and the wider world. For example, children enjoy putting food out on the bird table in the garden. Teaching is effective. The childminder plays alongside children, skilfully motivating them to be excited in their learning. Children develop warm relationships with the childminder and feel comfortable and confident in her care. The childminder completes thorough risk assessments, in her home and for outings, to identify hazards and minimise risks to keep children safe. The childminder provides children with nutritious meals and snacks. Children have daily opportunities for fresh air and exercise as part of learning about healthy lifestyles.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not share information about children's development targets as effectively as possible with parents. The childminder's self-evaluation findings are not used effectively to support her to improve her knowledge and develop her skills even further to support children to achieve to the highest possible level.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector spoke to the childminder and the children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector observed the childminder's interactions with the children. The inspector sampled a range of documentation, including policies and procedures and children's records. The inspector conducted a tour of the areas that the childminder uses for childminding purposes.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a strong knowledge of how to protect children. She has a clear and concise understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures, including what to do in the event of a concern. The childminder completes written and visual risk assessments of her home and outings to identify and minimise hazards to children. She has completed the recommendation set at the last inspection by revising and improving her systems for children's assessments. For example, she now completes written and photographic observations of children's development across the areas of learning. She regularly reviews her observations to plan meaningful next steps for children's future learning and development. The childminder completes some useful self- evaluation to identify improvements to her provision but this does not focus as well as possible on continually developing her skills and knowledge.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder supports all children effectively in their individual play and she extends their thinking and learning. She is particularly proactive in supporting children's communication and language skills. For example, she questions them skilfully, listens as they play and gives clear explanations to improve their language. The childminder supports children's mathematical development well. She encourages children to count for a purpose during play, and they become familiar with numbers and counting. Children learn about shape, measure and space, such as when they solve puzzles. They enjoy completing puzzles with images from favourite books that they share with the childminder.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The children play in a well-resourced and welcoming space. They move confidently and safely around the environment to play and explore. Children have good levels of independence, encouraged through daily routines. For example, children confidently select toys from shelves and dictate their own play. They make their own sandwiches at lunchtime. Children understand how to keep themselves safe. For instance, they are encouraged to help tidy up after activities to prevent tripping hazards. Children behave well and the childminder helps them to understand how to play well together, and to be kind and helpful to each other.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress in their learning. They are extremely well prepared for their next stages in learning and for the move to school. Children visit a range of local community groups on a weekly basis, where they socialise with a wider set of friends. Children develop good concentration skills as they persevere with self-chosen tasks.
