This provision is good
Children are exceptionally confident and considerate of the needs of others. They are polite and take turns as they play, building strong relationships with their friends. Children are motivated and keen to learn. The childminder provides a wide range of exciting activities that closely reflect children's interests and learning needs. The childminder monitors children's progress closely. She uses this information well to help her plan activities that challenge children and help them all make good progress. The childminder has made good improvements since her last inspection and recognises the importance of continuous professional development. For example, she has attended training to gain skills to help her to provide better support for children's learning. Children are increasingly independent in all that they do. The childminder teaches children how to keep safe and healthy, so that they learn how to do things for

themselves, such as using scissors safely.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not always provide enough opportunities for children to experiment with different ways of making marks and using writing during their play. The childminder has not established strong links with all other settings that children attend, to help provide greater consistency when supporting all children's learning.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector observed activities in the childminder's home. The inspector spoke to the childminder and children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector looked at children's records, planning and a sample of other documentation, including policies and procedures. The inspector took account of the childminder's self-evaluation and written feedback from parents.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a good understanding of child protection procedures. She knows what steps to take if she has any concerns about a child's welfare, to help keep them safe. The childminder shares information well with parents, such as through a newsletter, involving them in children's experiences. She reflects well on her practice to identify and address areas for improvement. She attends regular training opportunities and links with early years professionals, to help her to make changes that positively improve outcomes for children. Monitoring procedures are effective in helping her to adapt the provision well to support children's individual learning needs and helping them all to achieve well in each area of learning.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder challenges children's thinking skills well. For example, as they select resources to make their own models, they discuss the best shapes and sizes to use and consider the best way to fix things together. The childminder gives children time to think and encourages them to try their ideas out and learn through experimentation. The childminder skilfully includes the use of mathematical language as children play. For example, when they cut up the banana for snack time, she talks about cutting it in half and discusses how many pieces they have. The childminder supports children to develop strong language and communication skills. For example, she engages them in discussions as they play, repeating key words and introducing new vocabulary.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder teaches children to share, take turns and to show respect and kindness to others. For example, as children paint, they politely ask each other if they can use a particular colour that the other has. The childminder provides lots of praise to help boost children's self-esteem and confidence, and encourages them to keep on trying. Children learn about lifecycles, nature and the world around them as they participate in activities. For example, children discuss how the flowers they grow will attract bees and butterflies into the garden. They confidently recall the process of planting seeds, watering them and watching them grow, and relate this to how they can keep themselves healthy.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children develop skills that prepare them well for the next stage in their learning. They persevere at tasks, and become increasingly independent in managing their personal care needs, such as washing their hands and pouring their own drinks. Children are very keen to learn and confident to explore the wide range of learning experiences on offer. They listen well to instructions and use speech to communicate well with each other.
