Effectiveness of the leadership and management is outstanding

Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a very thorough understanding of child protection issues and the procedures to follow if she has any concerns. She uses highly successful arrangements to engage with parents and ensure that they are fully aware of the progress that their children make. The childminder seeks parents' views to help her improve even more. For example, to help children settle and encourage their language, she is working with parents to develop a book of songs and rhymes that they can share together. She has also introduced further safety measures to make it even easier and safer when parents collect their children. The childminder uses training and evaluation very effectively to enhance her practice. This has helped her to create inspirational outdoor play areas, with further plans to extend children's physical skills further.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding

The childminder accurately monitors children's learning, identifying how she can move them forward, close any gaps and support them to make excellent progress. She gathers detailed information from parents alongside her own observations to ensure she is fully aware of children's abilities and interests. This helps her to plan children's learning meticulously and provide them with highly effective support. She makes excellent use of her resources to enhance learning and provide even more challenge. The childminder frequently introduces mathematical ideas, including weight, capacity and size. She occasionally misses the opportunity to encourage children to count as well. The childminder interacts very successfully with children, supporting their communication and language superbly. This includes giving them time to think, solve problems and develop their vocabulary.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding

Children develop extremely strong bonds with the childminder. The childminder helps young children to feel very confident and self-assured. Children have space for their own belongings and special baskets with toys that are of particular interest. They proudly show others where their individual pegs are and the name labels next to the sunflowers they have planted. Children receive excellent guidance to behave well. The frequent praise and encouragement from the childminder boosts their self-esteem very well.

p.3

Outcomes for children are outstanding

Children are extremely eager learners. They behave very well, learning to respect others and stay safe, such as when playing ball. Young children become fully absorbed in activities, such as water play, learning new words, including 'splash', 'spin' and 'heavy'. At a young age, they become very independent with excellent perseverance and physical coordination. For example, children become engrossed in filling a container with small objects and working out that they have to take some out so they can put the lid on.
