This provision is good
Children move around confidently and make choices from a wide range of age- appropriate resources and activities available. This keeps them motivated and eager to learn and explore, and they make good progress. The childminder now accurately assesses the progress of all children and effectively uses this information to plan learning experiences for children and to help them move forward in their learning. The childminder is kind and caring. Children form very strong bonds with the childminder and feel secure in the safe environment. They develop good social skills, learn to be nice to each other and treat others with respect. The childminder has used various training opportunities to help keep up to date with all new legislation and regulations and to improve experiences available for children. She now regularly reviews all aspects of her service and shows a strong capacity for improvement.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
Occasionally, the childminder tries to persuade children to stay at a task or activity for too long, which makes it difficult for them to remain fully engaged. The childminder is not always fully successful in working with parents to support children's understanding of healthy eating and achieving consistency in this area.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector observed activities and the childminder's interaction with children throughout the inspection. The inspector sampled children's observation, planning and assessment documents, and looked at the registration records. The inspector checked evidence of the childminder's suitability to work with children and sampled her policies and procedures. The inspector held conversations with the childminder and children.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a clear knowledge of her responsibilities to act on any child protection concerns and of procedures to follow should she be concerned about a child's welfare. The childminder has worked hard and successfully addressed all previous actions and recommendations from her last inspection. The childminder has good partnerships with parents and successfully seeks their opinions to maintain high standards of care for their children. Parents report that they are happy with services provided and that their children thrive in the childminder's care.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder observes children's play and offers resources that extend their learning. For example, babies who are learning to walk enjoy activities that help them develop their physical skills and encourage them to practise them. The childminder successfully supports children's language development in English and French. All children are confident and understand both languages well. For example, children sing songs and read books in both languages and they increase their vocabulary as, for example, the childminder repeats new words in two languages. The childminder skilfully introduces children to the basics of mathematics from an early age. For example, she uses terms, such as 'big' and 'small', and explains their meanings through practical examples.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder uses information provided by parents about children's personal care needs to help them settle quickly and adjust to her care. The childminder asks about children's home routines and makes sure that parents are clear about her policies and procedures. The childminder gives clear and consistent guidance to help children become more independent and be aware about safety. She constantly praises children to boost their self-confidence and self-esteem. Children behave well and learn how to share, take turns and respect others. The childminder implements care routines well and she teaches children to follow good hygiene routines, which supports their health.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children, including those who are learning English as an additional language, make good progress according to their starting points. Children successfully develop the important skills needed for their next steps in learning. They respond positively to the childminder's good interactions and develop good communication and social skills, which prepares them well for the next stages in their learning.
