This provision is good
The childminder has made significant improvements since her previous inspection. She has completed the actions and recommendations that were raised then, and has introduced evaluation processes to clearly identify and prioritise areas for further development. These changes now drive continued improvement and have helped to raise the overall standard of the provision to good. The childminder has created an inviting and stimulating environment. She has a wide selection of good-quality toys and play materials. Children eagerly explore their surroundings, select resources independently and make decisions about their play. The childminder is kind, caring and friendly, and children form good relationships with her. Children feel secure and safe. They are happy, confident and develop high levels of self-esteem. They giggle and have fun when they play with the childminder. The childminder uses detailed observations of children's progress and development to

plan a wide range of worthwhile activities. She ensures that children's individual needs and interests are met well. Children make good progress in their learning.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not always use questions to encourage the children to think and respond as they develop their play. The childminder does not always make the most of opportunities to extend children's mathematical skills.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector completed a joint observation with the childminder and had discussions at appropriate times throughout the inspection. The inspector looked at a range of relevant documentation, such as policies and procedures, the childminder's self-evaluation and children's assessment files. The inspector checked evidence of the suitability of household members, and the training records and qualifications of the childminder. The inspector took account of the written feedback from parents.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder regularly checks the environment for potential hazards and takes the necessary action to minimise them. She has a secure understanding of child protection and is confident about the action to take if she has a concern about a child's welfare. The childminder has a positive attitude to continually extending her knowledge, skills and practice. For example, she identifies and attends specific training to support children according to their needs. The childminder reflects on her practice, and now uses feedback gained from parents and children to help her to maintain her good quality of teaching and the learning environment.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder is knowledgeable about children's individual stages of development. She becomes involved in children's play and effectively tailors her teaching to ensure all children are helped to achieve. Since the previous inspection, the childminder has made significant improvement to her observation and assessment processes. She now clearly identifies and addresses gaps in children's learning. The childminder keeps parents well informed about their children's progress. She encourages parents to share ongoing details of what children enjoy and achieve at home. The childminder implements good procedures when working with staff at other settings that share the care and education of children. They exchange helpful information that contributes to continuity in children's progress.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children settle quickly. They know where the toys are and eagerly decide what to play with. Their social skills develop well; for example, children enjoy activities in local community groups where they meet and play with other children. Children keep active with daily exercise and outdoor play, which supports their physical development well and their good health. They talk about and eat healthy foods, and practice and share their knowledge of good hygiene routines. Children are confident to play and explore. They behave well. Children have use of resources that reflect diversity, which contributes to children's growing understanding of the wider world.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress from starting points. They are interested in their experiences, and learn skills that help them to be well prepared for school. Children build their confidence in using and understanding language. They make their needs known and follow simple instructions well. Children's literacy skills develop well. They begin to recognise letter sounds and can recognise their own names.
