p.2

Effectiveness of the leadership and management is outstanding

Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a very clear understanding of how to identify and report any concerns about children's well-being. The highly qualified childminder is very knowledgeable and experienced. She is extremely well motivated and committed to providing high-quality care and learning for children. She continues with her ongoing professional development and carries out her own detailed research. For example, she has considerably improved her observation, assessment and planning cycle, and plans meticulously for children's learning to help them make excellent progress.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding

The childminder guides and supports children's learning exceptionally well. She interacts with them as they play and provides excellent opportunities for children to explore an extensive range of resources. For example, young children were thoroughly engaged in stimulating activities; they explored using their senses through resources, such as materials with different textures and smells. The childminder's interactions were excellently used to extend children's play and to introduce new words to describe the different feel of the resources. The childminder sensitively encourages children to persevere with tasks and praises them when they succeed. The childminder has recognised there are possibilities to improve opportunities for the young children to learn more about shapes, sizes and numbers.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding

The childminder provides exceptionally warm, comfortable play areas both indoors and outdoors. She provides excellent settling-in procedures, ensuring children form exceptionally close emotional attachments and helping the young children to build excellent confidence, independence and self-assurance. The exciting resources ensure children develop high levels of curiosity as they play and explore. For example, the very young children are encouraged to explore the garden. The childminder involves them in planting and growing, and searching for mini beasts to effectively develop their understanding of the world. The childminder provides excellent opportunities for children to experience physical challenges and manage risks for themselves.

p.3

Outcomes for children are outstanding

Children are confident and active learners who thrive in this highly stimulating environment and are exceptionally well prepared for their future learning. They develop superb attitudes to learning and are eager to explore and investigate. For example, the very young children absolutely delighted in playing with natural resources. They were fascinated as they scooped and poured, skilfully supporting their physical development. They thrilled at the sounds they made as they filled different containers.
