This provision is good
The childminder has made many positive changes since the last inspection. She has addressed the previous action and recommendations raised. She evaluates and reflects on her practice to recognise her strengths and to identify areas for improvement. The childminder has a good understanding of how children learn and develop. She closely observes and assesses children as they play and uses this information to help plan what children need to learn next. All children are confident and make good progress from their initial starting points. The childminder provides children with a wide range of challenging learning experiences that helps capture their imagination and enthusiasm and builds on their interests. The caring childminder promotes children's emotional development, self-confidence and self-esteem successfully. She takes time to get to know their individual needs and children form extremely close and secure attachments with her.
p.1
This provision is good
Behaviour is excellent. The childminder helps children to understand that other people may have different ideas and ways of doing things, and why it is important to treat others with respect and kindness.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
There is room to enhance the information shared with parents to provide even more opportunities for them to be involved in and support their child's ongoing learning at home. Systems for exchanging information with other providers are not yet rigorously implemented so that children benefit from a joined-up approach to their learning.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector held discussions with the childminder at appropriate times throughout the inspection. The inspector sampled a range of documentation, including attendance records, suitability checks for adult members of the household, children's observation, assessment and planning records, and documentation linked to managing children's progress. The inspector conducted a joint observation of an activity with the childminder. The inspector took into account the written views of parents.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. Since the last inspection the childminder has undertaken safeguarding training. She is clear about her responsibility to keep children safe and is fully aware of the process for reporting any concerns about children's welfare. Daily safety measures, such as the emergency evacuation procedures, are frequently reviewed, further contributing to children's safety. The childminder accesses training that supports her to help drive continuous improvement. She monitors children's development by looking at their individual needs. This means she is able to identify any gaps in children's learning quickly to take prompt action to address them. This includes working with other professionals when children may need additional help.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The quality of teaching is good. The childminder engages children in purposeful learning experiences, supporting their next steps and interests. She uses good teaching techniques as she joins in with children's play to guide and support their learning. Children communicate and express themselves confidently. They have lively conversations with the childminder and each other as they make cakes together. The childminder introduces new vocabulary, such as scales and sieve, to further promote children's communication and language skills. She skilfully challenges children, asking them to think about why the mixture is harder to stir as they add more dry ingredients. Pre-school children have many opportunities to develop their early mathematics skills, such as counting, as they weigh out their baking ingredients. Children are encouraged to develop good early writing skills. For example, they make marks using chalk and enjoy learning to identify and write their
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder promotes children's good health and well-being effectively. She teaches children about how to keep themselves and others safe as they move indoors and outdoors and how to safely handle tools and equipment. Children become aware of healthy lifestyles through a range of daily activities and experiences. As children bake, the childminder talks to them about the sugar they add. The children talk confidently about how too much sugar is not healthy for them. There is a strong focus on developing children's independence. This prepares children well for the move to school. Children work harmoniously together. They are good at sharing and taking turns. The childminder is a positive role model and promotes excellent hygiene routines. Children are confident in meeting their own needs, such as washing their hands before they eat and prepare food.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
The childminder enthuses children so they develop a real love of books. They enjoy looking at books independently and sharing stories together, joining in with their favourite parts. Children are very sociable and sustain their concentration for long periods of time as they play. They access resources with enthusiasm and are active learners who are eager to engage in new experiences. Children learn the key skills they will need for future learning and are well prepared for starting school.
