Safeguarding is effective. The childminder knows how to keep children safe; she is aware of the signs and symptoms that could cause a concern for a child's welfare. She knows how to raise a concern if necessary. The childminder has a good understanding of the early years foundation stage. She completes regular training which helps keep her updated with current legislation and practice. The childminder evaluates her practice well and this helps her to maintain good standards. She includes the views of parents and children.

The childminder has a good understanding of how children learn and develop. The childminder monitors children's learning well which helps her to plan and identify any weakness in children's development. She provides interesting and challenging activities that engage the children in play. She plays alongside them to extend and differentiate activities to children's individual learning needs. For example, children choose from different ingredients to make their own pizzas for lunch. The childminder regularly shares children's achievements with parents and partnerships are good.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding

The childminder takes exceptional care of children's well-being. Children gain excellent independence skills. For example, children change their own clothes and wash their hands when they come in wet from the garden. The childminder offers inspiring outdoor learning activities. For example, exciting trips to the local woodland areas to discover nature and provide children with opportunities to explore the world around them. Children's individual needs are promoted very well. For example, care routines are carried out hygienically and in a highly sensitive way. The childminder actively promotes healthy eating and exercise, which helps children develop an excellent awareness of the need for a healthy lifestyle.

p.3

Outcomes for children are good

Children benefit from an exceptionally warm and nurturing environment. This helps children form very strong relationships and feel confident to explore and play with others. Older children are encouraged to write their names independently. This prepares them for the early stages of literacy and for school. All children make good progress in their learning. Strong partnerships with parents support children's learning at home and help to ensure children are ready for the next stage in their learning.
