This provision is outstanding
Children benefit from exceptional interactions with the childminder. Children are excited and highly engaged as they play. The childminder uses assessment in an excellent way to plan for children's learning. She uses tracking to expertly identify any gaps in children's development and quickly helps them to make consistently excellent progress from their starting points. This is particularly effective for those children who have special educational needs or disability. The childminder has built highly effective relationships with parents. Children benefit from a very consistent, joined-up and in-depth understanding of their needs and interests. The childminder has a highly positive impact on children's experiences. For example, she develops her knowledge and skills extremely well, to improve her teaching abilities. She uses what she knows to constantly build on children's learning. The childminder supports children's understanding of the emotional needs of others

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

enhance further the already excellent outdoor provision for those children who prefer to learn outside, to help them make even more progress in their learning.
p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector and the childminder jointly evaluated the effectiveness of an activity together. The inspector conducted a meeting with the childminder to discuss the quality of her provision. The childminder sampled a range of documents, including children's learning journals. The inspector observed the childminder's interactions with children throughout the inspection.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is outstanding
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a highly effective and excellent understanding of safeguarding procedures and child protection issues. She reflects expertly on her practice, to bring about changes that have a significantly positive effect on children's play and learning. For example, she has greatly improved opportunities for children to select materials and tools, and to work on their own creative projects. The childminder works really well with other settings to make sure that children experience continuity and are very well prepared for school. The childminder works in an exceptionally focused and targeted way to continually bring about improvement.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding
The childminder ensures that children are challenged and excited in their learning. Children enjoy having running races and the childminder introduces stop watches and a finishing line to extend their learning further. Children often follow their own ideas and solve problems. For example, they engage in an elaborate game by building a bus stop and practise their literacy skills extremely well as they make tickets. Children work really well together and stay interested for long periods. They enjoy taking the outdoor temperature each day and also bring back information about the weather from their holidays to make a detailed chart. They develop an excellent understanding of the world around them.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding
Children play extremely well together and their behaviour is impressive. For example, they work very hard together to transport and count wooden bricks as they build a very complicated road. They independently line cars up on the structure and use sticky labels to number each one. Children enjoy constant access to the garden and lots of exercise. Together, they learn how to record the time it takes to sprint from one end of the garden to the other. The childminder plans to continue to develop the already excellent outdoor area to enhance children's experiences further. The childminder has built extremely positive relationships with children that provide them with a firm emotional start from which they make excellent progress.
p.3
Outcomes for children are outstanding
All children develop high levels of independence and confidence ready for their eventual move to school. They access the things that they need and make lots of choices about where they would like to play and what they would like to do. They show maturity in their learning; for example as they hold books correctly, carefully turn the pages and retell stories. Children learn to share, respect each other's wishes and consider the feelings of others.
