The inspector observed and evaluated a learning activity with the childminder. The inspector viewed evidence of the suitability of all adults living and working on the premises. The inspector looked at a sample of policies, training records and children's assessment records and discussed the childminder's self-evaluation. The inspector spoke to the childminder, assistant and children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector took account of the views of parents spoken to on the day and recorded in letters sent to the childminder.

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding
Children are provided with vibrant and exciting experiences and challenges tailored to their individual needs. This leads to children making excellent progress. Robust assessments of children's learning help the childminder to successfully identify any gaps in children's learning. This enables her to adapt activities and plan according to individual children's learning needs. For example, she uses visual timetables, routines and a choice book containing photographs of resources to fully support younger children's communication. Children have excellent opportunities for developing early writing skills using paint, felts tips and pencils. They record the fruits they enjoyed during a tasting activity, using a tally chart. Children confidently link sounds to letters as they copy or draw around their name label. The childminder encourages children to explore their emotions and feelings in a positive way. For example, they draw self-portraits and talk about how

The playroom is vibrant and organised very effectively so that all children can easily access the plentiful resources. Children use words such as, sweet, sour or yucky to describe how the food tastes. Children are exceptionally well behaved and play incredibly well together. The childminder talks to children in a respectful considerate way, and they follow her example.
