This provision is good
The childminder has improved her knowledge and skills, and those of her assistant, through training since the previous inspection, to promote children's development well and aid their good progress. This has helped her to raise standards. Children are happy and relaxed in the childminder's care. They clearly enjoy their activities and demonstrate that they feel safe. They confidently select activities that support their interests and which promote good learning opportunities. The childminder knows the children well. She is confident in assessing how they are progressing and in planning challenging next steps in their learning. Partnerships with parents and other early years providers that children attend are strong. The childminder regularly exchanges information with them to maintain a useful two-way dialogue. This promotes good continuity in children's care and learning. The childminder has good methods to evaluate her service, with help from her assistant

and parents. She is now mindful of keeping her first-aid training up to date.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not take all chances to help children fully develop all aspects of early mathematics in their play. The childminder does not always make the most of chances for children to do even more things for themselves, and to further extend their understanding of healthy lifestyles.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector checked the areas used for childminding, such as the play room. The inspector spoke with the childminder at appropriate times throughout the inspection to discuss her practice. The inspector looked at children's development files, planning, policies and procedures, and the childminder's self-evaluation document. The inspector took account of parents' written feedback and comments in the compliments book. The inspector spoke to children as they took part in their activities, and observed their play and the childminder's interaction with them.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder has a good understanding of her responsibilities to protect children and to meet their physical needs. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder is confident in her role and responsibilities to safeguard children. She is secure in the procedures to follow should she have any concerns about a child's welfare. This clear knowledge helps protect children's well-being and welfare. Parents are well informed of their children's learning. Together they regularly share information on how the children are developing and have, for example, good opportunities to discuss learning records and assessments. This helps promote good partnerships between the childminder and parents.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Children enjoy the range of interesting activities available to them inside and outside of the childminder's home. They show good levels of confidence as they choose from a good range of resources that support and complement their overall development. Children enjoy being imaginative. For example, they explore how to use ingredients when making chocolate sauce for their cakes. The childminder promotes children's creative and literacy skills successfully. For example, the childminder skilfully helps the children to make a book and then talks to them about the letters they are using, which supports their pre-reading and early writing skills. This positively promotes learning skills in readiness for school.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children form friendships with each other and clearly enjoy the childminder's company. They are well settled and emotionally secure in the childminder's care, independently playing and exploring with confidence. Children behave well and learn to use good manners. The childminder uses praise and encouragement well to help children to be confident. Children's good health is promoted effectively overall, for example, through regular outdoor experiences. Children build up their physical skills well. For example, when they play in parks and enjoy regular visits exploring woodlands.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are self-assured and make good progress in their learning and development. They develop good communication and language skills, which prepare them well for future learning. For example, during play the childminder skilfully encourages the younger children to use new words and encourages older children to ask and answer questions to extend their understanding and language skills.
