This provision is good
Children are very happy, confident and settle well. They form a strong bond with the childminder and her assistant, and feel included in the welcoming family home. The childminder has made good improvements since her last inspection. She reflects well on all aspects of her provision to identify and address areas of improvement. She increases her teaching skills, for example through training, to improve outcomes for children's learning. Children enjoy their learning and make good progress. The childminder has a thorough understanding of children's interests and stages of development, and plans a wide range of enjoyable activities that challenges children well. Children are polite and well behaved. They learn to share and take turns, and develop caring relationships with others. Parents are involved well in children's learning and value the support the childminder offers. They regularly share and receive detailed information about the progress their

children make, helping to ensure children receive consistent support.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not always work effectively with all other early years settings that children attend, to work more consistently in meeting children's needs. The childminder sometimes misses opportunities to involve children in using writing for a purpose during their play and activities.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector observed activities in the childminder's home. The inspector spoke to the childminder and children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector looked at children's records, planning and a sample of other documentation, including policies and procedures. The inspector took account of the childminder's self-evaluation and written feedback from parents.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a good understanding of child protection procedures. She knows the steps to take if she has concerns about a child's welfare. The childminder provides clear guidance to her assistant to ensure they have the skills and knowledge to support children's welfare fully. The childminder monitors children's progress effectively and has a good understanding of their next steps. She reflects well on her practice. She attends regular training and researches aspects of childcare to help make changes that impact positively on the outcomes for children. This has led to improved support for children's language and communication skills, which was an action raised at her last inspection.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Children are confident to explore the well-resourced learning environment. The childminder effectively supports children's learning. For example, as she reads books about dinosaurs with children, she skilfully involves the use of toy dinosaurs. Children observe the dinosaurs carefully, identifying their key features with interest, and develop their good language and number skills. The childminder supports children well to make choices and increase their independence. For example, they decide whether they want milk or water to drink and pour this themselves. The childminder makes good use of all opportunities to challenge and extend children's learning. For example, they discuss the shapes they make as they cut up their sandwiches.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder is calm and caring in her approach, and is sensitive to children's needs at all times. Children are very confident due to the high levels of praise and reassurance the childminder offers. The childminder supports children's emotional well-being well, and they are relaxed and comfortable in the familiar daily routines. Children feel proud of who they are and develop a respectful interest in their similarities and differences. For example, they talk about each other's families as they look at the photograph boards. The childminder prioritises children's safety and provides good supervision at all times. She helps children learn about keeping healthy and to follow good hygiene routines.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are prepared well for the next stage in their learning. They manage their personal care needs with increasing independence and receive good support in their physical development. For example, as they help to make their own lunch, they make decisions about the fillings they like and learn how to use tools to spread, cut and pour. Children gain confidence in new situations and in their engagement with others. For example, they regularly attend group activities with the childminder.
