The provision meets requirements
The manager and volunteers have a sound knowledge of how to provide children with interesting activities that complement their learning at school. Resources and equipment are of good quality and are suitable for the ages and abilities of children attending. Since the last inspection, the group has moved to different premises on the same site. This has improved the facilities available to children, including providing them with access to a well-resourced outdoor area and a sensory room. There are procedures in place to gather the views of parents, carers, children and volunteers, to help set targets for improvement. Parents and carers of older children who attend the club are very complimentary about the care provided. They are very appreciative of the activities and social opportunities the club provides for their children. They say their children enjoy attending and feel safe in the friendly and caring atmosphere.
p.1
The provision meets requirements
There are appropriate procedures in place to promote children's safety and welfare. For example, thorough safety checks are carried out on all areas of the premises before children arrive. The indoor and outdoor areas are safe and secure. Sound procedures are in place to monitor children's arrival and departure times to ensure they only leave with authorised people. The manager gains information from parents and carers, in order to be able to support individual children's care needs. Procedures are in place to involve parents and carers in setting targets that they would like their children to achieve while at the club. The manager and volunteers have suitable knowledge of child protection procedures. They understand their responsibilities to protect the welfare of the children in their care.
p.1
The provision meets requirements
There were no children present when this inspection took place. The findings in this report are based on evidence gathered from discussions with those who care for the children and an inspection of the premises, equipment and relevant documentation. Where there are no children present, no judgement is made on the quality of the early years provision as there is no reliable evidence on which to assess its impact on children. The report states whether the provider continues to meet the requirements of registration.
p.1
Inspection activities
The inspector had a tour of the premises and viewed all areas that are used when caring for children. She spoke to volunteers and children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector observed older children involved in activities, both indoors and outdoors. The inspector held a meeting with the manager and a member of the committee. She looked at relevant documentation, such as safeguarding policies and evidence of the suitability of staff and volunteers. The inspector spoke to a small selection of parents and carers of older children during the inspection and took account of their views.
