This provision is good
The childminder plans interesting activities that challenge children well and motivate them to learn. Children make good progress from their starting points. The childminder supports children's communication and language development well. For example, she uses good questioning skills to help children think and introduces new vocabulary. Children develop a good awareness of how to live healthy lifestyles. For instance, they eat healthy foods and learn about good hygiene practices. The childminder supports children's understanding of behaviour well. For instance, she teaches children her rules and encourages them to be caring and respectful. The childminder regularly checks the quality of her setting and gains the views of parents and children to help make improvements and to provide positive outcomes for children.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
At times, the childminder does not gain a full range of information about children's abilities from parents when children first start, to support their learning from the outset. The childminder has not fully developed highly effective relationships with other settings children attend, to provide consistency in children's learning.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector had a tour of the areas used for childminding. The inspector gained parents' and children's views through discussions and reading feedback. The inspector examined a sample of documents, policies and children's records. The inspector observed the childminder and children during play. The inspector discussed the childminder's self-evaluation process.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder knows how to keep children safe and the action to take if she has concerns about a child's welfare. The childminder is committed to providing children with good-quality learning experiences. She has a professional attitude to her work and takes action to address areas for improvement. For example, following a recommendation at the last inspection, the childminder has developed the observation and assessment process and now monitors children's progress effectively. She shares her findings with parents and, overall, involves them well in their children's learning. The childminder keeps her knowledge and skills up to date through regular training opportunities, research and sharing information with other professionals.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder helps children to persevere and learn new skills. She includes mathematics well during play and daily routines. For example, she encourages children to count the bubbles they blow and the pieces of fruit at snack time. Children enjoy being creative and join in with songs. They engage well in activities the childminder plans. For example, they show great excitement as they explore a water activity where items change from small to large when left for a short while. Children have opportunities to explore a range of technological resources and the childminder supports them to develop their early technology skills effectively. She provides opportunities for children to develop their physical well-being. For instance, children enjoy outdoor play and use a variety of tools, such as tweezers, to develop their hand-to-eye coordination.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children form positive relationships with the childminder. They invite her into their play and feel safe and secure in her care. For example, during imaginative play, children dress as doctors and invite the childminder to be their patient. The childminder places a strong focus on children's safety. For example, she regularly practises the evacuation drill with children and questions them when on outings to reinforce their understanding of road safety. Children learn about the differences between themselves and others through a variety of resources and activities. They develop good social skills as they mix with others. For instance, during group times the childminder takes them to.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children make good progress. They develop strong levels of independence and self- esteem. Children are confident and inquisitive. They develop a keen interest in early literacy. For example, they enjoy a good range of activities, exploring writing materials and looking at books. Children develop the skills they need for the next stage in their learning and school.
