This provision is good
The childminder has a good understanding of individual children. She provides parents with information about their children's development, to help them understand the progress that their children make. The childminder provides a good range of resources to allow children to make independent choices in their play. The childminder's home is secure, clean and welcoming. Children show that they are very happy and self-confident, as they eagerly explore the play environment. Outcomes for children are good. The childminder provides a wide range of experiences to help children learn about differences and similarities between themselves and others.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not consistently seek the views of those using the setting, to help her develop her practice to an even higher standard. The childminder does not fully encourage parents to contribute to their children's learning, to help children make as much progress as possible.

Inspection activities
The inspector spoke to the childminder at appropriate times during the inspection, including about her understanding of safeguarding and children's development. The inspector observed the children playing indoors and outdoors. The inspector sampled documentation, including policies, procedures and records kept for the children. The inspector viewed the areas used by the children.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder provides children with a good range of activities. Children of all ages are keen learners and are eager to explore. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a good understanding of how to keep children safe and knows what she must do if she is concerned about a child's welfare. The childminder has made positive changes since the last inspection, to improve the quality of her provision. Overall, she reflects on what is going well and uses this information to further develop her practice. She monitors the children's progress to ensure that she is aware of any gaps in development and knows what to do if she has a concern about a child's development. The childminder develops her knowledge and understanding of how children learn well. This has a positive impact on how effectively she teaches the children. The childminder works effectively with other settings to ensure that children have continuity of care.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder has good knowledge of the learning and development requirements. She completes assessments and tracks children's development well. She uses this information to plan the next steps in children's learning, to ensure that all children are making good progress. The childminder helps children to learn well. She introduces early mathematics into children's play and gives children plenty of opportunities to practise their early writing skills. For example, children enjoy making marks with chalk and counting objects during their play. The childminder skilfully uses opportunities to enhance children's speech and communication skills. For instance, she constantly talks to them and introduces new words and phrases to develop their learning.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder meets children's care needs well. She supports their good health and provides healthy meals and snacks. Children enjoy engaging in outdoor play where they can exercise and be physically active. They behave well for their ages and stages of development. The childminder sets clear expectations of what children can and cannot do, and deals with challenging behaviour calmly. She consistently praises the children as part of building their self-confidence. She is effective in helping children to develop independence in a safe environment. For example, children use outdoor apparatus and independently assess any risks with appropriate support where needed.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress from their starting points. They are very involved in their activities and they concentrate for long periods of time. Children enjoy meeting other people within the community and learn how to behave in different situations. They are beginning to socialise well and develop the skills needed for the move to school.
