This provision is good
The childminder consults with parents about their children's development. She encourages parents to share information, to provide a consistent approach to children's learning. The childminder helps children to make good progress through a wide range of learning experiences. She regularly observes the children, to plan an exciting range of activities based around their interests. Children's emotional needs are thoroughly well supported. Children show they are happy and relaxed in the setting. They have secure attachments with the childminder and thrive on playful interactions. The childminder evaluates her practice well, to make enhancements to improve the experiences she provides for the children. She has made positive improvements since the last inspection, to maintain good practice. The childminder is a positive role model, who speaks calmly and kindly to the children. She has clear behavioural expectations and children behave well.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The system for tracking children's development does not always give a clear view of children's next steps in learning, to further enhance their progress. The childminder sometimes misses opportunities to extend children's imaginative skills as they play, to help develop their creativity.

Inspection activities
The inspector had a tour of all the areas used for childminding. The inspector observed the quality of teaching and learning, and assessed the impact on the children. The inspector viewed a range of documentation, including the children's learning records and the childminder's policies. The inspector spoke to the childminder at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector read feedback from parents to gain their views.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a secure knowledge of child protection issues and her responsibility to protect children from harm. She completes thorough risk assessments and carries out daily checks for the areas accessed by the children. The childminder attends relevant training courses and updates her knowledge and practice, to improve the outcomes for the children. She regularly asks parents to contribute their ideas and incorporates these into her development plans, to further develop her practice.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder supports children's mathematical development well. She automatically incorporates mathematical ideas into children's daily experiences. For example, she talks about sizes, colours and numbers as children enjoy looking at different types of ladybirds, counting the spots and comparing sizes. The childminder extends children's vocabulary, to effectively develop their communication and language skills. Children enjoy singing songs and the childminder introduces new words to their sentences. Children develop their hand- to-eye coordination well; for example, as they fit floor-puzzle pieces together. The childminder completes the required progress checks for children aged between two and three years. This information is shared with the parents to discuss their learning and development, and to promote home learning.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder is playful, warm and caring, and promotes children's well-being effectively. She encourages the children to make decisions, gives them choices and makes sure children become increasingly independent. For example, children happily choose their own activities and the fruit they would like to eat at snack time. The childminder helps children to manage their emotions and to develop their confidence. When children become frustrated, she calms them down well and encourages them to have another go at solving problems with good guidance and support. Children enjoy good opportunities to spend time outdoors and be physically active. They jump, climb and enjoy time looking at mini beasts and flowers in the garden.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children enjoy regular visits to different groups and have many opportunities to socialise. They develop good sharing and turn-taking skills. Children are motivated and demonstrate good levels of curiosity in the world around them. For example, they look closely through magnify glasses at the ants in the garden. Overall, children develop well in readiness for their future learning.
