safe, secure and suitable for childcare purposes are weak. She does not know how to recognise and minimise potential hazards and has not maintained public liability insurance. The childminder's knowledge of how to maintain good hygiene standards to protect children's health is limited. The childminder does not have resources and equipment needed to engage children in purposeful play and to allow them to explore and build their confidence. The childminder has a limited understanding of some aspects of the learning and development requirements. For example, she does not know how to recognise the different ways in which children learn or how to take these into account when planning activities to help children make progress in their development. The childminder has maintained a first-aid qualification and demonstrates that she has the knowledge to treat minor injuries appropriately. Following inspection, the childminder resigned her registration prior to enforcement

action being taken. There were no children present when this inspection took place. The findings in this report are based on evidence gathered from discussions with those who care for the children and an inspection of the premises, equipment and relevant documentation. Where there are no children present, no judgement is made on the quality of the early years provision as there is no reliable evidence on which to assess its impact on children. The report states whether the provider continues to meet the requirements of registration.
