This provision is good
The childminder knows the children extremely well. She provides kind, thoughtful and considerate care that meets their emotional needs particularly well. She helps them to feel safe and secure in this caring environment. The childminder has good partnerships with parents. Regular conversations help to ensure that parents know about their children's welfare and learning. Parents regularly contribute to their children's learning and share home learning experiences. Children successfully develop their language skills. For example, they talk about past events and are delighted to share experiences with the childminder, who encourages them to develop their communication skills effectively. The childminder checks on children's progress regularly and plans play and learning experiences that excite and challenge their learning. They are very eager to join in. Children make good progress in their learning and development.
p.1
This provision is good
The childminder makes considerate and creative use of her home to ensure that it is appealing and supports children's learning well. She reflects on her practice thoughtfully. The childminder has succeeded in remedying the weaknesses highlighted in her last inspection.
p.1

Inspection activities
The inspector and the childminder discussed the systems used to observe and record the children's progress, and the documents used to support the childminder's work. The inspector completed observations of the children engaged in activities with the childminder. The inspector looked at the rooms and resources that children use. The inspector and the childminder discussed the childminder's systems of self- evaluation and the impact of training on her work. The inspector and the childminder discussed how the childminder met the action and recommendation set at the last inspection.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder fully understands her child protection responsibilities and the procedures to follow if she has any concerns about children in her care. The childminder is committed to improving her childcare service and has worked hard to meet the actions and recommendations set at the last inspection. For example, she has developed a successful partnership with the nursery that children attend, and children benefit from the consistent learning opportunities. Furthermore, the childminder attends training to update her knowledge and improve her teaching and care practices. She observes and assesses children's progress and uses the information to plan activities that interest and motivate them to learn.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Children benefit from their interaction with the childminder. They confidently lead their own play and make decisions independently. Children develop high levels of self- confidence and are well prepared for their future learning. Children talk excitedly about their chosen activity. For example, they talk about the colours they are using to paint a picture and how they can make a butterfly by folding paper. The children were delighted when the childminder joined in with their hand printing. There was lots of laughter as they all painted their hands. Children have good opportunities to develop their physical skills and they enjoy their time in the local park. They learn how to take safe risks as they climb just a little bit higher than they did last time.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children are extremely self-assured in the care of this warm and attentive childminder. They make their ideas and thoughts known to the childminder, who responds thoughtfully and helps them to feel safe and secure. Children are confident in their own ideas and know when they are tired and need to rest. They know where to find their own blankets and settle to sleep. The childminder's thorough knowledge of each child enables her to manage their behaviour sensitively and effectively. Children's behaviour is very good. Practical activities in the home and in the community help the children to understand about their own and other people's feelings and differences.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress, given what they know when they start, particularly in their language and communication skills. For example, they talk with confidence about past events and their time in nursery. Children learn early writing, number and language skills well. They are self-assured and successfully develop the skills they need for their next steps in learning and move to school.
