She also looked at a selection of risk assessments and policy documents, including the safeguarding policy and procedures.

p.2

Effectiveness of the leadership and management is outstanding

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder demonstrates an excellent understanding of her responsibility for protecting children in her care. She is extremely clear about the procedures to follow if she has concerns about the safety of a child and updates her safeguarding knowledge regularly. The childminder has a high passion for her work; her enthusiasm and pursuit of excellence mean that she is constantly looking at ways to improve. For example, she is driven to attend further training to improve the already excellent quality of provision still further. She evaluates her teaching, children's progress and the activities she provides exceptionally well to ensure that she delivers a first-class service. Partnerships with parents, other settings and professionals are very well established, with excellent communication links between them.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding

The childminder provides an extensive range of exciting and stimulating high-quality resources. Children move resources around freely to support their play, ideas and imagination. In structured play sessions, the childminder provides a sharp focus on meeting children's individual needs. She asks searching questions and challenges children to identify new areas for investigation. The childminder takes every opportunity to extend vocabulary as children freely share their thoughts and ideas through high-quality interactions with her. During outdoor play children excitedly explore areas of the garden, looking for insects and examining them under a magnifying glass. They record what they find, compare sizes and shapes, and talk about how the insects move up, down and over different obstacles. Children's literacy skills are excellent. They use factual books to categorise insects and recite familiar stories in great detail. They recognise letters and

Children learn about other people's ways of life through extremely well-planned activities and experiences, inside and outside of the home. The childminder consistently praises and acknowledges children's achievements and contributions. This greatly enhances their sense of self-esteem, reinforces their self-confidence and promotes impeccable behaviour. The childminder often takes children to meet with a wider group of friends. They enjoy exciting activities in their local community, such as visits to the library, dentist, toddler groups and other places of interest.

p.3

They enthusiastically join in with familiar actions songs and recognise how exercise has a positive impact on their health, such as making your heart work faster.
