This provision is good
Children develop positive and confident attitudes to learning. They have secure relationships with the enthusiastic and caring childminder, who supports their personal, social and emotional development well. The childminder uses observation and assessment effectively to monitor children's learning, and to provide activities to support their progression. Children achieve well in all areas of learning, in relation to their abilities and starting points when they first attend. The childminder supports children's early mathematical and physical skills well, such as through a variety of imaginative activities. Children make good progress and have fun. The childminder meets children's unique care, learning and development needs successfully. She forms effective partnerships with parents and other professionals and uses these well to support her. The childminder continually evaluates and improves her provision. She has addressed

the actions and recommendations set at the previous inspection well, which has helped her to raise the quality of her service and outcomes for children significantly.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not always fully encourage children to develop their early reading and writing skills, and use them in their play. The childminder misses some opportunities to encourage children's interest and exploration of rhythm and sounds.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

make better use of all opportunities to develop children's early reading and writing skills even further during their play and practical experiences provide opportunities for children to explore their interest in rhythm and sounds.
p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector sampled a range of documents that the childminder uses to support her practice. The inspector spoke with the childminder and children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector viewed the rooms and resources used by children. The inspector completed observations of the children engaged in activities, indoors and outdoors.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder provides good-quality care and education. She is keen to improve her service further and uses training effectively, for example, to improve the quality of her teaching and to use her observations successfully to track children's progress. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a good understanding of how to keep children safe and who to contact should she have any concerns about children's welfare. The childminder consults parents and makes changes that are practical, relevant and effective. Effective partnerships with parents and other settings help the childminder to provide continuity in children's learning and care.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder is mindful of children's next steps in learning. She considers them well when planning and providing activities. The childminder talks and listens to children and introduces new vocabulary well, for example, to build on their developing communication and language skills. She makes good use of questions to help encourage children's thinking and extend their understanding further. The childminder develops children's early mathematical skills well and offers interesting activities that encourage curiosity. For example, children explore spaghetti imaginatively and measure it. They develop hand-to- eye coordination and the muscles that they need for early writing as they prod, pull and sort to find different lengths of spaghetti.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder helps children to settle and they quickly develop strong bonds with her. Through her consistent care, the childminder makes sure that children are happy, well looked after and enjoy what they do. She offers much praise and sensitive guidance, helping children to play cooperatively together and behave well. The childminder encourages children to develop their independence wherever possible and to make choices in their play. Children explore the good-quality resources with enthusiasm and use their imaginations readily. They talk and play with the childminder with growing confidence. Children develop a good understanding of how to manage risks in their play, such as checking that the logs of the wooden train are dry before they climb on board.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children make good progress, in readiness for school. They develop their mathematical skills particularly well. Children concentrate and use their problem-solving skills to sort, match and count items. Children are confident and eager to learn. They pay attention as they listen to stories and confidently engage in discussions during imaginative play. Children successfully develop their language skills and vocabulary.
