p.1

The provision does not meet requirements

 The childminder has failed to identify weaknesses in her provision. She has not kept up to date with current changes to legislation to improve the quality of her provision. Consequently, she has gaps in the knowledge required to enable her to fulfil all aspects of her role and responsibilities.  The childminder has little understanding of the learning and development requirements or how children learn. She does not know how to effectively observe children and assess their progress. This has an impact on the childminder's ability to identify and plan children's individual next steps in learning to help them to progress.  The childminder is unaware of the requirement to review the progress of children aged between two and three years. Consequently, she lacks sufficient knowledge to ensure that important information is gathered and shared between herself, parents and other professionals.  The childminder explains her understanding of safeguarding procedures and child

protection issues. She knows the action to take should concerns arise about the welfare of a child, including any allegations against herself or a family member. She has not considered the safe use of mobile phones and cameras as part of robust safeguarding procedures.  The childminder has procedures in place to aid her in assessing the physical safety of her home and to assess children's safety during outings. She has limited equipment and resources to support her caring for children, this means that she does not provide resources to support children's independent play and provide appropriate levels of challenge across all of the areas of learning.  The childminder maintains a suitable first-aid qualification and holds valid public liability insurance as required.

p.1

The provision does not meet requirements

There were no children present when this inspection took place. The findings in this report are based on evidence gathered from discussions with those who care for the children and an inspection of the premises, equipment and relevant documentation. Where there are no children present, no judgement is made on the quality of the early years provision as there is no reliable evidence on which to assess its impact on children. The report states whether the provider continues to meet the requirements of registration.
