p.2

Effectiveness of the leadership and management is outstanding

The childminder is well qualified and highly experienced. She is proactive in developing partnerships with other professionals to promote a shared approach to children's learning. Parents regularly share children's development records and they are encouraged to add their comments. The childminder also gives parents high levels of support to promote children's learning at home. This shared approach helps to ensure all children are making rapid progress and are very well prepared for their next steps in learning, including school. Written testimonials from parents indicate that they are immensely pleased with the care and learning their children receive. The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder has a thorough knowledge of the possible signs and symptoms of abuse, and a clear understanding of when to report significant events. She comprehensively assesses risks in the environment to ensure children are kept safe.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding

Children engage in highly stimulating activities, providing them with high levels of challenge and underpinning their future learning. For example, children develop early writing skills using a vast range of resources that are accessible in all areas, including using soil for making patterns on paper. Children develop their understanding of mathematical concepts during focused activities and child-led play, where they learn about size and shape as they make comparison between different objects. For example, during snack time they chop up fruit and discuss the difference in the sizes of each piece. Children also learn to recognise numbers and letters of personal significance to them. The childminder has an excellent understanding of children's individual learning styles and plans activities to teach children in innovative ways. For example, the childminder would like to enhance the already excellent opportunities for older children to understand

information and communication technology.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding

Healthy lifestyles are fully promoted and children develop a thorough knowledge of how healthy practices and exercise are contributing to their overall health and well-being. Children help to grow fruit and vegetables in the childminder's garden which are then used to complement the childminder's healthy, nutritionally balanced home-cooked meals and snacks. Excellent hygiene practices are in place at all times and daily routines support children in developing their self-care skills. For example, children wash their own hands and prepare and serve their own snacks. These embedded practices support children to attend to their own personal care needs, helping them when they move on to school. Children's physical development is extremely well promoted through daily activities and regular outdoor play.

p.3

Outcomes for children are outstanding

Children make exceptional progress in all areas of learning and are emotionally secure, confident and happy. They are motivated learners and are extremely eager to join in and explore. Children form excellent relationships with their peers and the childminder, helping support their emotional well-being, confidence and enjoyment of learning.
