This provision is good
The childminder has worked hard to address the issues raised at her previous inspection. She gives children sufficient time to think and work problems out for themselves. All adults living in the home have had suitability checks carried out to help to make sure they are suitable to come into contact with children. The qualified childminder has a secure knowledge of children's individual needs and interests. She plans and provides appropriate and interesting activities across all areas of learning that help children to make good progress. The childminder and her co-childminder are friendly and welcoming. This helps children to settle well and feel safe. Children's emotional well-being is supported effectively. The childminder and her co-childminder have high expectations of children's behaviour and their simple rules guide children to behave well. The childminder has created a stimulating environment indoors. She has a wide

selection of good quality resources that reflects the diverse world in which we live. Children eagerly explore their surroundings indoors and select resources independently. The childminder has effective self-evaluation methods in place. She thoughtfully evaluates her practice with her co-childminder. She is proactive in looking for areas to develop her service and values the views of parents and children.

It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not always model the correct pronunciation of words clearly. The childminder does not provide enough opportunities for children who prefer to learn outdoors to follow their interests.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed activities in the childminder's home. The inspector spoke to the childminder, her co-childminder and children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector carried out a joint observation and discussed with the childminder the teaching and learning provided. The inspector took account of the views of parents, including those expressed in recent letters.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder implements stringent health and safety policies and maintains a safe environment. She has a clear understanding of child protection procedures and knows how to refer concerns to the appropriate authorities. The childminder works well with her co-childminder to evaluate and adapt teaching and planning, so it consistently meets children's needs. They work together to monitor children's progress and improve their learning opportunities. The childminder keeps parents regularly informed about what their child is working towards and how parents can support this learning at home. The childminder regularly attends training to keep her knowledge and her skills up to date.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder provides a good range of learning experiences that interests and engages children. Overall, she skilfully interacts with children to extend and enhance their learning. Babies are supported to develop their physical skills. Toys are placed within easy reach to help them learn how to reach for them. The childminder supports them to take their first steps, helping them to stand and move around the furniture. Activities are adapted to suit the ages and abilities of children. During painting, babies explore the feel of the paint and make marks with a brush. Older children use sponges to make prints and talk about the different colours of paint.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder effectively supports children to develop their independence and self-care skills, appropriate to their age and stage of development. Children gain confidence and they learn how to put on their own coats and shoes. Children learn to take account of each other as the childminder gives guidance about sharing resources. The childminder understands the important role she plays in promoting healthy lifestyles. She provides nutritious and balanced meals and snacks and she encourages children to be active. Children are encouraged to help in the preparation of food and they talk about the effects that certain foods have on their bodies. The childminder regularly takes children out to the park and for walks where they enjoy and connect with the natural world around them. For example, they enjoy splashing in puddles.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress in all areas of learning and are working comfortably within, or beyond, the range of development typical for their age. They acquire very positive attitudes to learning. Children develop the confidence to explore their own ideas. They learn to share, wait to take their turn and use good manners. Children are becoming increasingly independent in organising their play. The childminder effectively supports children to develop many of the skills they need for the next stage in their learning and school.
