Inspection activities
The inspector observed activities and interactions between the childminder and children, indoors and outdoors. The inspector looked at evidence of the suitability of the childminder and household members, and discussed her methods for self-evaluation. The inspector spoke with the childminder and interacted with children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector spoke to parents to obtain their views and read written feedback from them. The inspector examined a sample of policies, safeguarding procedures, children's assessment profiles and planning documentation.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is outstanding
The childminder is exceptionally reflective. For example, she acts quickly on feedback from other professionals, and seeks the views of parents, children and other professionals to contribute to her already outstanding provision. The childminder has a very positive attitude to pursuing excellence to benefit children. For example, following training, the childminder made further improvements to provide much richer learning environments for children. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder follows effective health and safety procedures to support children's welfare and well-being. She is extremely vigilant in supervising children, and confident of what to do should she have any concerns about a child in her care.
p.3

The childminder is highly creative and resourceful. For example, she stores toys and resources in different-sized suitcases, to encourage children's imagination and curiosity. Children were in awe as they opened the cases and enjoyed investigating the different objects and materials. The childminder skilfully encouraged children to name and describe what they found, to support their increasing communication and language skills. The childminder makes precise observations and assessments, planning exciting activities based on children's interests. For example, when she observed that children were interested in numbers, she introduced counting games in languages that were significant to them. Children responded to this very positively and enthusiastically. Nonetheless, the childminder intends to seek further professional development opportunities to consolidate her teaching of early mathematical skills, to benefit children further.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding
The childminder places a strong emphasis on outdoor play, to help support children's healthy lifestyles. For example, children relished their time, riding toy cars, writing on a big easel and climbing on large equipment outdoors. In addition, children benefit from lots of excellent outings where they take part in active play, for example, to enhance their social and physical skills further. Children develop excellent independence skills for their age and stage of development. For example, young children managed their own personal hygiene extremely well and were praised for their efforts.
p.3

Children are confident and active learners who thrive in this highly stimulating environment. They behave exceptionally well and show respect for others. For example, they played happily with one another and shared toys. Children develop superb attitudes to learning and are eager to explore and investigate.
