This provision is good
The childminder has worked hard to address the issues raised at her previous inspection. She has made resources more easily accessible to children and made sure that all adults living in the home have had suitability checks carried out. The quality of teaching is good. The childminder has a good knowledge of child development and how children learn and uses this well to teach children of different ages and abilities. This helps all children to make good progress in their learning and development. Children are happy and relaxed in the childminder's welcoming environment. They have secure bonds with the childminder and her co-childminder. This supports their well- being effectively and they are very confident in new situations. Children are well prepared for school. The childminder places a priority on helping children to gain skills, such as self-care skills and social skills. This helps children to be

confident when going into the school environment. The childminder has strong relationships with parents. She shares a range of information with them and regularly discusses their children's progress and learns about their children's experiences at home. This helps her to plan effectively around children's interests.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
At times, the childminder does not effectively promote children's thinking and reasoning skills. The childminder does not provide enough opportunities for children who prefer to play outdoors to follow their interests.

Inspection activities
The inspector toured the areas of the home used for childminding purposes. The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector looked at evidence of the suitability of adults in the household, children's development records and a sample of policies and procedures. The inspector completed a joint observation with the childminder. The inspector discussed the childminder's self-evaluation and plans for improvement.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. Children are safe in the childminder's care and she regularly updates her knowledge of safeguarding by attending training to help her protect their welfare. The childminder effectively minimises hazards to children in her home and supervises them well. The childminder is enthusiastic and committed to improving her practice. She regularly reviews the setting with the co-childminder, as part of the self- evaluation process, to see if any changes need to be made. The childminder attends regular training. These courses, such as behaviour management, help to increase her understanding of how to implement effective strategies. Valuable links with other early years providers ensure that all children receive good levels of individual support.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder provides activities that stimulate children's interest and she interacts successfully with children so that they remain engaged and motivated. Children show delight and fascination during activities. The childminder deftly incorporates their understanding of mathematics when children count different toy frogs. They sort them into colour groups and understand how many are left when they search for hidden frogs. The childminder promotes children's fine motor skills. She shows them how to hold scissors correctly and encourages them to make cuts into paper. The childminder provides a basket of natural resources that effectively promotes young children's natural curiosity when they handle them and feel the different textures.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder is a positive role model and knows children's individual personalities well. Children learn about boundaries and expectations for safe play and behaviour. The childminder helps children build skills in social situations. They visit community groups where they learn how to mix with other children. The childminder talks to children about feelings and helps them to understand how to take account of other children. Children follow good hygiene routines and are provided with healthy snacks and meals. They access physical activity outside in the local area on a daily basis. They frequently take walks to the local beach, nature reserve and parks. This helps them to learn about their local environment.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
The childminder tracks children's progress regularly. This helps the childminder to see how they develop over time and helps her to identify any gaps or delays in their learning. Children are motivated and eager to try out new experiences. They are learning to listen and follow instructions very well. They are active learners and confident to make decisions about their play. Children gain the key skills necessary for future learning and are prepared well for school.
