in all of the learning environments so they feel confident to learn.

p.1

It is not yet outstanding because:

 On some occasions, adults do not use opportunities to develop children's language and communication skills further.  Staff do not always extend children's mathematical skills or understanding effectively.

p.1

p.2

Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good

The manager and staff have a strong knowledge of the Early Years requirements. Children's progress is successfully checked and any gaps in progress are identified. Provision for children with special educational needs is well considered and staff work extremely effectively with other professionals to ensure generally good outcomes for all children. The manager provides staff with good supervision to help them develop their professional skills. Safeguarding is effective. Staff have a good understanding of how to protect children and know the procedures to follow should they have concerns about a child's welfare. The manager ensures that thorough risk assessments take place to protect children's safety. Partnerships with parents and other providers are strong and provide continuity in children's learning and development.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good

Staff typically use their knowledge to plan a range of interesting and challenging experiences around children's interests. For example, children have fun digging for imaginary treasure in the sand. They have opportunities to enhance their literacy development; for example, they confidently draw and practise their early writing skills. Staff generally support children's communication and language skills well. For example, they use methods such as sign language, visual aids and repeating back words correctly. Staff recognise they could sometimes extend children's basic skills further.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good

Children play in a stimulating environment that promotes their motivation to learn well. They receive excellent support from staff, who meet their care needs and emotional well- being very sensitively. Children flourish and behave well. Staff make their expectations clear, so children are confident in knowing what is acceptable. Children play extremely well with others and show great respect and consideration for their needs. Staff recognise the uniqueness of each child and value their contributions. Staff consistently promote calm and positive behaviour. Children's personal, social and emotional development are enhanced through meaningful praise and encouragement. They develop their independence and their personal care skills well. Children enjoy taking on responsibilities.

p.3

Outcomes for children are good

All children make good progress in relation to what they know when they start. They acquire good social skills and children of different ages, abilities and backgrounds confidently play alongside each other. Staff help children become successful learners and typically develop their basic communication and mathematical skills effectively. Children gain the skills they need to be ready for school or the next stage of their learning.
