This provision is good
The childminder provides a welcoming and nurturing environment for children. She and her assistant are good role models and children develop positive relationships with them and each other. All children are happy and settled. Children develop good physical skills and coordination. For example, they climb and slide on the outdoor play equipment and patiently fill bottles and tubs with pasta. The childminder monitors children's progress effectively to identify achievements and next steps in learning. She shares this information with parents to help them support their children's learning at home. The childminder help children gain a good understanding about their local community. For example, she takes children to local groups, visits the library, local parks and the local nature reserve. The childminder teaches children how to keep themselves safe. For example, children learn her rules about playing safely outdoors and practise the emergency evacuation
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
On occasions, children do not have sufficient time or opportunity to make their own choices about what to play with to extend their own learning. The childminder does not always provide activities that encourage children to independently explore a range of materials to develop their creativity.

What the setting needs to do to improve further

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the childminder and her assistant playing and interacting with the children. The inspector talked to the childminder and assistant at convenient times during the inspection. The inspector looked at a sample of paperwork, including evidence of suitability, written self-evaluation and training certificates.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The enthusiastic childminder is committed to providing a quality service for children and has met previous recommendations to improve her practice. She works closely with her assistant, whose practice she monitors, to ensure good outcomes for children. The childminder updates her knowledge consistently and meets with other childminders to share good practice. She seeks feedback from children and parents to evaluate her setting and to identify areas for improvement. For example, the childminder has improved her outdoor area for children and has strengthened the tracking of children's development. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder and her assistant understand their responsibility to protect children. They keep their safeguarding knowledge updated and know what to do if they have concerns about the welfare of children or families.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder has a good range of resources available for children to play with and plans daily activities to interest and motivate them. For example, children were excited to show the inspector the seeds they planted the previous day and used a range of tools to explore the sand and to build sandcastles. The childminder promotes music very well in her setting. For example, children sing and dance enthusiastically to songs, using their homemade shakers and join in with rhymes and actions. The childminder helps children to communicate and to learn new words. For example, she introduces the word 'octopus' as they look at a book and encourages them to name the 'helicopter' that flies overhead.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder is warm and caring, and works closely with parents to accommodate the individual needs of their children. For example, she gently rocks the younger children to sleep and provides safe and quiet areas for children to rest. The childminder promotes healthy lifestyles effectively. For example, children enjoy nutritious foods and have regular opportunities for fresh air and exercise. Children are confident to go to the childminder for a cuddle or to seek reassurance, for instance, when they are unsure of a loud noise. Children gain a sense of belonging within the group. For example, the childminder teaches them the boundaries of the setting and encourages them to borrow books using the 'backpacks' they made.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children make good progress in their learning in relation to their starting points. They are all very happy and are confident to interact with the childminder and each other. Children learn important skills, such as respect and communication, and are prepared well for the next stage in their learning. For example, they learn to manage their own toilet routines and to put on their own shoes.
