practice, in order to maintain high standards. Staff, parents and partners are involved to help improve outcomes for every child.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding
Highly effective systems of observation and planning are implemented with excellent results. Children's natural curiosity and exploratory instincts are very well fostered. Their learning environment supplies them with a wealth of challenge. Children gain an understanding of the world around them, and develop skills in readiness for school, through real-life experiences and wonderful play opportunities. For example, children grow seeds in the outdoor area. Their early mathematical skills are promoted strongly as they learn about time through daily watering of their own plants and measuring the growth of the seedlings. Children's creative thinking is supported very well indeed. They take great delight in designing and decorating their own model houses using recycled materials. Staff promote the development of communication and language skills through purposeful questioning and ongoing commentary to introduce new vocabulary.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding
Staff and other professionals have an excellent understanding of children's needs and interests. They frequently celebrate children's achievements at the pre-school and at home. Staff provide plentiful praise and encouragement. This helps children to feel extremely safe and secure in the nursery. Children relish regular opportunities to take part in indoor sports activities and to climb, balance and run outdoors. This helps to promote the development of children's physical skills extremely well. Children's understanding of healthy lifestyles is firmly established through everyday routines. Children are learning about each others' similarities and differences in the highly inclusive environment of the pre-school.
p.3
Outcomes for children are outstanding
All children make rapid progress in relation to their starting points. Children are very happy and motivated learners who involve themselves enthusiastically in the varied activities on offer. They grow in confidence, make firm friendships and become increasingly independent. Children are extremely well prepared for their move to school.
