This monitoring visit
This service has had two recent inspections with outcomes that were judged to be inadequate. This is the second monitoring visit undertaken by Ofsted since the last full inspection. The purpose of this visit was to ensure that the service was implementing its action plan in a timely and effective way and to review any progress made since the last monitoring visit. The registered individual remains in day-to-day control of the home. This has ensured consistency and a robust approach to rectifying the shortfalls identified during the previous two inspections. The registered individual continues to work tirelessly to ensure that the service improves and the experiences for children and young people are positive and safe. The registered individual has recruited a permanent manager for the home. The manager is due to start working at the home on 16 May 2016. Staff report that they are looking forward to this appointment. This manager came to temporarily

support the staff on a temporary basis following their inadequate inspection. The staff already hold a level of respect for the new manager. The action plan prepared by the registered individual continues to ensure that all areas of poor and unacceptable practice are addressed. The action plan is thorough and goes beyond Ofsted findings. There is good evidence to support the improvements that have been made and how they impact on practice. For example, the changes made to the safekeeping and administration of medication have allowed for any errors or discrepancies to be identified and addressed immediately. Some poor and practice has been identified since the last monitoring visit. The registered individual responded effectively and swiftly to address these concerns. The local authority designated officer was alerted and a subsequent meeting took place. These areas of poor practice remain under investigation. Ofsted will be
