This provision is good
The childminder completes initial assessments of children's starting points and uses this information effectively to plan activities that stimulate children's curiosity to explore. Children make choices about what they would like to play with. They enjoy what they do and make good progress from their starting points. The childminder works closely with parents to promote children's well-being. For example, she provides children with healthy snacks and meals and regularly shares information with parents to help meet children's health and medical needs effectively. Children develop trusting relationships with the childminder. They approach her and confidently communicate their needs, should they require her help. Parents express the view that their children settle well when they drop them off at the childminder's setting. The childminder has made good progress towards the recommendations raised in the

previous inspection. She completes regular risk assessments of her premises and equipment to identify and remove hazards to children's safety.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder misses some opportunities to encourage children to take age- appropriate responsibilities, such as putting toys away after play. The childminder does not always make the best use of opportunities for professional development, for example, to help strengthen the procedures for monitoring children's overall progress.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the children and their interactions with the childminder. The inspector viewed a sample of documents including children's developmental records. The inspector took account of the views of parents and children. The inspector held discussions with the childminder as appropriate.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a secure knowledge of child protection procedures. She understands how to identify indicators that may cause her concern about children's welfare. The childminder seeks the opinions of parents and children to help her plan for improvements. For example, she takes account of their views to plan for special outings during the summer holidays. She shares information and ideas with other early years providers to help keep updated with current practice and introduce positive changes to her provision. She understands her responsibility to complete progress checks for children aged two years. She works in close partnership with parents to help identify gaps in children's learning and support their progress.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder interacts enthusiastically with the children and supports them closely to follow their interests in play. For example, she identifies that children are interested in playing with trains and she helps them set up a track to further promote their enjoyment in what they do. Children develop their creativity. For example, they load toy people on the train and they make train sounds as they move them around. They curiously explore technology, for example, they press buttons on a play fire engine and watch the flashing lights and sounds. This helps children to gain a secure knowledge of how things work.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder provides regular opportunities for children to exercise in the fresh air, for example, she takes them on visits to local parks and amenities. She stimulates children's interest in physical play and exercise. For example, she provides a variety of balls of different sizes and they learn to kick, throw and roll them. Children learn to make healthy choices, for example, they enjoy fruits and vegetables and they help themselves to water when they are thirsty. This helps them to develop a good understanding of their needs. The childminder provides a range of activities and resources for children to learn about diversity, such as books, dolls and puppets that reflect different cultures and traditions.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children develop their communication skills, for example, they freely ask questions and share their views as they play. They learn from positive interactions with the childminder. They develop their understanding of the world, for example, they learn to name animals and they mimic animal sounds. Children learn to identify and name shapes, such as diamond, heart and star. They develop good thinking skills, for example, they learn to complete puzzles. Children develop key skills that help to support their progress towards their next stages in their learning.
