Inspection activities
The inspector observed activities and interaction between the childminder and the children, and reviewed the play equipment and resources. The inspector spoke with the childminder at appropriate times throughout the inspection. The inspector viewed the areas of the premises used for childminding. The inspector looked at documentation, including a sample of children's records and assessments. The inspector looked at, and discussed, the systems used by the childminder to evaluate her provision and comments from parents.

Safeguarding is effective. The childminder provides a secure and welcoming environment. She is clear about safeguarding procedures and what to do if she has concerns. She is quick to identify any potential hazards and takes action to keep children safe. Children benefit from good-quality care and interaction. The childminder continues to evaluate her provision to help her improve the service she provides. For example, she researches new ideas for activities to do with the children, such as creating her own story bags to use with young children. Parents receive clear information about their children's achievements and ways to follow on their children's learning at home.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder understands how children learn and provides enjoyable and stimulating experiences to promote children's active learning. For example, children enjoyed cuddling up to the childminder to listen to a favourite story and confidently turned the pages and repeated familiar words. The childminder skilfully extends the children's learning, such as asking questions and encouraging them to count the animals in the picture. She incorporates songs and rhymes linked with the animals, and children happily join in doing the actions. The childminder's ongoing commentary and modelling of language helps children to learn new words, which supports their developing vocabularies effectively.
p.3

Her warm and caring manner helps children to build secure attachments. Children show developing independence in managing their personal care routines and learn to do things for themselves, such as helping to make their own snacks. The childminder recognises the importance of being a good role model for children. She teaches children to be kind and to listen to each other during their play. The children learn good manners and to play together well with their friends.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
