This provision is good
The childminder provides a nurturing and loving environment for young children, which helps to ensure they develop secure emotional attachments right from the start. Children are happy and respond well to the childminder. Children play in a stimulating learning environment with a good range of resources that provide interest and entice them to reach out and begin to explore. The childminder checks how well children develop, to ensure all children make good progress. The childminder has a good understanding of how to keep children safe and minimise risks to them in the home and on outings. For example, she is particularly vigilant with safety when out walking with children. The childminder works closely with parents to support children's well-being. For example, she keeps them informed of important care arrangements to ensure continuity of care for very young children.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder misses some opportunities to extend children's early communication skills. The childminder does not have effective links with other early years settings children attend, to help support their learning. The childminder does not always use self-evaluation well to help her improve her practice further.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the childminder's interaction with the children during care arrangements and with play activities. The inspector spoke with the childminder at appropriate times throughout the inspection, regarding her practice and the arrangements for observation, assessment and planning. The inspector checked the documentation that the childminder uses to support her practices. The inspector discussed self-evaluation processes.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder understands her responsibility to safeguard children. She knows the process to follow if she has concerns about the welfare of children. The childminder has a valid paediatric first aid qualification so she is able to confidently deal with any minor accidents to children correctly. The childminder knows the early years requirements. She develops her skills most of the time. For example, she attends some training sessions to improve her knowledge. The childminder has made good progress since the last inspection. She has successfully addressed the actions set. For example, she has developed her understanding of observation and assessment routines and uses these well ,overall, to help identify the next stages for children's learning.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder has an effective understanding of how children learn. She helps very young babies to become confident enough to explore the resources available. For example, she sits with them and provides a range of toys to entice their curiosity. Babies watch the childminder intently as she chats to them and they respond by gurgling and smiling. She is aware of supporting young babies' early physical development. For example, she gives them some time on their tummies to support their muscle development. They enjoy being on a play mat and show a sense of wonder as they notice their reflection in a mirror.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder's home is very welcoming. She is a good example of how to treat others. For example, she has a warm and caring approach and promotes consistent boundaries to help manage children's behaviour. The childminder helps to develop children's early confidence and self-awareness well. She successfully promotes children's healthy lifestyles and physical well-being. For example, she encourages parents to provide nutritious, balanced foods for their children. The childminder offers the babies their bottles of milk and they snuggle up with her, demonstrating that they feel secure and content following their feeds.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress in their learning. They have a range of interesting learning experiences in the home. Babies develop secure relationships as they recognise the childminder's voice and watch her intently. They develop good physical skills and move around freely, kicking their legs and reaching out for the toy mobiles. Children are well prepared for their next stage of learning.
