This provision is good
The childminder uses observation and assessment to effectively monitor children's development. Information from parents is used well to establish what children know and can do on entry. She provides children with an interesting range of experiences and plans well for what they need to do next in their learning. Children make good progress in their development. Children enjoy strong and respectful attachments with the childminder. She creates a positive atmosphere of praise for children's efforts, promoting their self-confidence and sense of self-esteem. They are confident to explore their surroundings and thrive in the childminder's care. The childminder regularly reflects on the quality of service she provides. She makes the required changes that benefit children and their families the most. Parents are invited to contribute their ideas to the self-evaluation of the setting.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
Sometimes, the childminder offers solutions and guidance to children instead of using ways to help them think how to solve their own problems. The childminder does not promote early handwriting and early letter formation in a consistent way to support children's early literacy skills.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the childminder's practice with the children. The inspector discussed the children's development. The inspector discussed the process of self-evaluation and how the childminder obtains the views of all the users of her provision. The inspector examined a selection of documentation.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder is clear on the procedure to follow should she need to report concerns about the welfare of a child. The childminder maintains a safe and suitable environment and she supervises children well. Well-implemented policies underpin her good practice and promote children's safety and welfare. Effective systems are used to monitor children's progress. The childminder accesses regular training, which supports a culture of continuous improvement that benefits children's learning. For example, she has used information gained from research to support children's communication and language skills further.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Children enjoy their learning. Activities are stimulating and encourage their good progress. The childminder skilfully models language, supporting young children to make very good progress in their communication and language. She weaves in opportunities to build on children's growing understanding of mathematical concepts, such as quantity, size and capacity, in routine play. She provides a good range of media and materials for children, such as paints, pens and chalks. Children enjoy making marks and are beginning to develop their early writing skills. The childminder ensures there is purposeful sharing of information with parents, professionals and other providers to promote consistency in children's care and learning experiences.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children benefit from warm relationships with the childminder. They follow well- established routines which help them feel settled and secure. The childminder teaches them about the importance of eating healthily and following good hygiene routines. The childminder is a very good role model and has high expectations for children. For example, she models to children how to use a knife safely to cut up fresh fruit. She manages children's behaviour in a calm and consistent manner. Children are sociable, demonstrate good manners and respect for others. They learn about the world around them as, for example, they make feeders for the birds they have seen in the garden. Children benefit from regular outdoor play and visits into the community.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children are making strong progress, given their starting points. They demonstrate that they can persist at activities and readily try new things with confidence. Children show a good understanding of using electronic equipment. They look at pictures of family members and friends on a tablet computer. They gain good levels of independence and show positive attitudes to learning in readiness for school.
